Jacob Hannah is a Vermont wedding photographer that has a degree in Photojournalism and spent six years working as a newspaper photojournalist

Influenced by a background in photojournalism, I strive to not only make beautiful and creative photographs from your wedding, but photos that capture the real emotion, candid moments, and unique personality of your special day. After graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2006 with a degree in Photojournalism, I spent six years as a newspaper photojournalist in New York and Nebraska, before moving back to my home state of Vermont where my wife and I have been photographing wedding since 2012. My wife, Megan, and I photograph each wedding together as a team. We take a true documentary approach to photographing your Vermont wedding, with the hope that when you see your photos you’ll not only remember how it looked, but will feel all the energy and emotion of the day through the images. I live in the small town of Lincoln, Vermont, with my husband, two cats, and a rambunctious flock of backyard chickens. Since moving to Vermont in 2012, I have photographed over 100 weddings. My husband and I work together, photographing weddings in a documentary style allowing you to relive your wedding day through your images. Besides photography, I am inspired by nature - I love taking a walk in the woods, going for a hike, or going for a swim on a hot summer day in the nearby river. [Burlington Wedding Photographer]

Vermont documentary wedding photography by Josh Kuckens, of Burlington

I grew up in Long Island and central Connecticut before going to school for Photojournalism at the Rochester Institute of Technology. There, I learned the value and application of narrative, documentary photography. I've since held photography positions at newspapers, high-end event companies, commercial outlets, and educational institutions. I employ these narrative skills in all of my work, but weddings are a natural fit. My goal is to tell the story of your day, as inconspicuously as possible. I find that weddings present some of the best opportunities for intimate, storytelling photography. in 2018 I became an Associate Photographer with Jacob & Megan Hannah of Hannah Photography in Lincoln, VT. When not shooting weddings, I work as a staff photographer at Vermont's Capital City newspaper, the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus. [Burlington Wedding Photographer]

Portrait of Vermont wedding photographer Sarah Priestap

I'm a second-generation wedding photographer, living out my dream of documenting community in the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire and photographing unique weddings around New England. As a teenager, I spent summers assisting my parents with photographing weddings, learning just as much how to run as business as how to be at the right place at the right time to capture unique moments. While working toward my degree in Photojournalism at the Rochester Institute of Technology, I began photographing weddings on my own, eventually bringing along my now-husband, Jeff Porter, a fellow photojournalism student who shares my love of spontaneous adventure. We now live in the mountains of Vermont, where I run the photography business and freelance for local and national publications including the New York Times, Vox, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Seven Days Vermont, and The Valley News. In addition to The Valley News, I've worked as a photographer for The Erie Times News, CITY Newspaper of Rochester, NY, and The Patriot News in Harrisburg, PA. I've received awards from the National Press Photographers Association, The New England Press Association, The Vermont Press Association, and The New Hampshire Press Association. Vermont wedding photographer Geoff Hansen calls Tunbridge home. He has been a newspaper photojournalist for decades.

With a love of documentary photography that touches everything I do, I have had the privilege of photographing hundred of weddings throughout New England since 1994. I approach my work with respect for the subject, gentle humor and letting events play out naturally in time. I began photography at 13 years old, growing up in South Dakota. After studying photojournalism at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, I have been a part of the Valley News in Lebanon, N.H., since 1989. I am now the photo editor in a newsroom full of talented and funny journalists. I have done photography for a dozen books, including The Joy of Keeping Chickens and Harvest: A Year in the Life of an Organic Farm. Boston wedding photographer, Alex Paul of Massachusetts.

Originally from Belarus – a small country between Poland and Russia – it was in 2006, and inspired by my own wedding, that I attended the Minsk School of Photography. Following two years intense study and two more years shadowing a renowned wedding photographer, I launched as a full-time professional wedding photographer in 2011. Since then I’ve notched-up extensive experience as a destination wedding photographer, shooting over 250 destination weddings in far away locations such as Italy, Switzerland, Motenegro, Thailand, Hungary, Czech Republic and Russia. We moved to the US in 2016. Located on Cape Cod, one of our favorite pastimes is exploring New England’s vivid landscape and sleepy coastal towns. As well as being ready to hop on a plane to shoot international weddings at a moment’s notice, I now cover engagements and weddings throughout Cape Cod, Boston and NYC, all New England and the surrounding area. New Hampshire wedding photographer, Sarah Martinez

Hi! I’m always ready for an adventure and I love running around in the wild with my couples, dresses that aren't always perfect, and giving couples the space to take in as many moments of their wedding as possible. My photography background takes me from starting out as a photojournalist for a newspaper in Ohio, to being the second photographer to an incredible wedding team in San Diego, all the way to starting my own photography business here in New Hampshire. I’ve driven all across the US many times, calling a bunch of those spots home and combined with my life experiences, my work is heavily influenced by the person that I’ve become out of it. In addition to the celebrations in life, it’s also the heartaches that helped me realize just how important capturing how a moment feels will impact your appreciation of the images delivered. Therefore, I work to get to know you two and use my years of experience to anticipate and embolden moments so I can capture all those genuine smiles, tears, and healthy doses of nervous anticipation. Professionally I’ve had wedding features published in print magazines like Seacoast Weddings, Southern New England Weddings – Destination Edition, and New Hampshire Bride along with a wide variety of blogs and online publications, I've been featured as the resident artist at a local art show, a finalist in a worldwide photography competition, chosen as the third-ranked photographer in my state, as well as being chosen as a top photographer in NH to watch in a nationwide report. Ben Schaefer is a Wedding Photographer in Boston, MA

I may be a little bit geeky, and my wife describes me as an "infuriatingly positive person". I am smitten with rock climbing, science fiction, surfing, travel, and being invited into the inner circle of a family on a wedding day. I am one of the only wedding photographers in the world shooting entirely on the highest end camera system and lenses in the world, the Leica. I am a hopeless romantic and thrive on the intricacies of a wedding day. My own wedding was the most overwhelming (fun!) experience of my life, and I treat every celebration with that gravity. I will tell the story of your day with sensitivity, artfulness, and attention to every detail. I work in a photojournalistic, candid and unobtrusive style throughout the day (apart of when we are making portraits or family formals). [Boston Wedding Photographer]

New York based documentary wedding photographer Danielle Gardner.

After six years as a photojournalist and multimedia photographer for Sun-Times Media in Chicago and ten years as a Senior Associate for a large Chicago fine art wedding photography studio, I am pursuing my dream of opening my own wedding and portrait studio. I bring a blend of fine art and photojournalism to each wedding that I document. I passionately push the limits of my camera looking for unique ways to document the beauty and suspense that every wedding offers. Each and every wedding is an honor to document, an honor that I take very seriously. If you like authentic images informed by art please reach out and let's work together! When not photographing a wedding or portrait session, I'm in my Upstate New York home documenting the daily life of my husband, six-year-old son, and our cat Yehti and fitting in a yoga session, time in nature, or gardening whenever I can. I have a master's degree in environmental studies and my photographic work has been recognized by the National Press Photographers Association, Editor and Publisher, Women in Photojournalism, and the Illinois Press Photographers' Association, Press Association and Associated Press. Portsmouth Wedding Photography by Eric McCallister, of New Hampshire

I’m an NH wedding photographer with a photojournalistic approach to documenting wedding days, with a contemporary take on wedding portraiture. I began my photography career shooting rock climbers scaling cliffs throughout the U.S. By combining my passion for adventure with my love of art and design, I very quickly became obsessed with creating images that were not only “pretty” but conveyed a sense of “being there” and of the emotions felt by my subjects. Seeing and capturing fleeting moments from behind a lens proved to be a powerful addiction, which led me to wedding photography. On the wedding day, I strive to create images of a couple that show the spectrum of emotions felt on one of the most important days of their lives. I have been photographing weddings in New England since 2003. I photographed my first wedding on my own in the Fall of 2008. Ten years later, I have photographed over 350 weddings, mostly in New England, but as far away as Wyoming, New Orleans and the Cayman Islands. I currently photograph approximately 30 weddings per year, which allows me to focus on providing great service to each and every client. [Portsmouth Wedding Photographer]

Maine, Portland and Vermont wedding photographer Corey Butler.

I've never had that great of memory to be honest, and from an early age experienced frustration with not being able to remember moments of the past as well as I would have liked to. Call it a chronic case of nostalgia, but it's what drove me into photography at an early age - and lead me into my studies of photojournalism. We know when we're at a critical juncture in our lives. You may even outwardly acknowledge it. For me, being able to authentically capture, to preserve those moments in a photograph is a such a privilege. I know how much it means to me to be able to look back and say 'this is how things actually happened.' There is beauty in those truths. The kind of folks I work with share that appreciation. I only take on a couple of weddings a month. To genuinely tell such an intimate story, I aim to be more than just another vendor at your wedding; I am fortunate enough to be able to book comfortably so that I can be sure the couples I am working with are getting the attention that every couple deserves. Additionally, it allows for me to have a notably expedited turn around time, all at a price that you'll likely find a lot more agreeable than what you're anticipating for a professional photographer. I'd love to hear your story up to now and to be able to tell a paramount piece of it in the future. Let's talk, get coffee or something. [Portland-ME Wedding Photographer]

Worcester wedding photographer Paulette Griswold of Massachusetts

We're Matt and Paulette, a married photography team focused on documenting love and life in a way that's natural and true. We met in 2004 when we worked for the same portrait studio. A wedding, two dogs, and many adventures later, we're still shooting, still learning, and still passionate about what we do. And pizza. We love each other. We love fun. We love fun. What we do Our goal is to capture your story so you can appreciate this time in your life forever, and to do it in a way that makes your day easy so you can focus on enjoying the good stuff. We like to mix the photojournalism-style with editorial storytelling- bringing out the light, color, and emotion that adds dimension to your day. We want you to look at your photos years from now and feel like you're there all over again, enjoying the details that you worked so hard on, the natural reactions, and even the things you didn't know about or plan. We value art, adventure, and meaningful connections. We love this job because it involves all three. It's so great meeting new couples and having the opportunity to document and share in their once-in-a-lifetime event. It challenges us, it rewards us, and frankly, we have a blast doing it. Having both of us at your wedding means your day is being covered by two professional photographers that work together constantly, instead of just one photographer, or a photographer and a "second shooter." We believe that when choosing a wedding photographer, the most important factor besides photographic style is that you like being around us and you trust us to capture your day. NH Wedding Photographer Cate Bligh

Cate graduated in 2006 with an Associate of Science in Professional Photography from McIntosh College. It is there where her passion for medium format photography first developed. This premium level of high-end photography is a service she still provides for all her weddings and engagement sessions to this day. Workshops are another way Cate has expanded her photography education. Creative and intensive, week-long photography workshops have been a constant presence in Cate's educational background and are planned into the future. What makes these workshops an important piece in her photography style, is the intention of growing her craft, learning the latest techniques, and networking with photographers around the world. These workshops encompass a variety of subjects like landscape techniques, wedding-specific intensives, and commercial/stock photography. She had attended The Maine Media Workshops in Camden, Maine and several at Rocky Mountain School of Photography in places like Missoula and Kalispell, Montana and Yellowstone National Park. In 2015, Cate spent 9 weeks in Missoula, Montana at Rocky Mountain School of Photography and completed an Advanced Intensive photography program that covered all aspects of photography, from weddings to fashion to commercial and more. ___ I often describe my style as romantic storytelling. As a photographer who specializes in weddings, I try to connect with my couples in a way that helps them feel at ease in front of the camera. This allows them to relax and enjoy the day, moment by moment. From this point, I am able to capture the emotion and natural expressions as they happen. Yet, I also stress the importance of photographing a family together in a more formal way. I feel these types of images last far beyond the wedding and document who we are, and who your family is, at a specific second in time. I am passionate about New Hampshire and I really enjoy working with couples who share a love for the beauty of my home state. Many of my clients talk of their memories of visiting the mountains or lakes with their families as children and their wish to maintain this legacy into adulthood with their partner. I cannot get enough of these stories! Your connection to New Hampshire is the same I feel when I look out my window every day and is 100% the reason I choose to work and live here. I cannot wait to hear about your connection and share with you some of the most amazing locations and venues for your photos. Not sure what all the fuss is about? Reach out and I will gladly share it with you! [New Hampshire Wedding Photographer]

Creative Portraits and wedding photography | Bride & groom portrait walking in front of colorful wall outside
Portraits are part of every wedding, of course, but some photos have the ability to sear themselves into the memory, providing an unforgettable image that rises above the common convention. Wedding photojournalists shooting portraits work within an expanded set of parameters, just like their counterparts in the news world: Some direction and setup is acceptable in order to fully capture subjects in the context of who they are and what they are feeling. Yet everyone approaches wedding portraits...Read more
Wedding Photographer captures quite moment as the bridesmaid looks timidly out before entering the scene
Weddings can be chaotic, noisy affairs where emotions are displayed publicly, so one of your biggest challenges that day can be capturing that quiet, intimate side. Trust, anticipation, skilled observation, savvy lens selection and a host of other judgments make it possible to bag those poignant moments in images that recall the day for those in attendance, and reveal a story for those who were not. It is all part of the unique value proposition that our members bring to wedding photojournalism.Read more

Never going to see her again at our breakfast table in her nightgown and socks...Annie was all grown up and leaving us, and something inside began to hurt.” The scene may be fiction, but the emotion behind it is...Read more
Denis Gostev, of New York, is a wedding photographer for St. Francis Xavier Church
You can argue that of all the photos on your wedding day, the ones taken during the ceremony are the most meaningful—that’s why you’re there, right? It’s ironic, then, that wedding photojournalists regularly have the most trouble shooting their best work in the churches where these very ceremonies take place. Often times, significant moments unfold in front of camera lenses that are too far away, positioned at awkward angles, and photographers are forced to operate under...Read more
