Bangkok wedding photography by Thanarat Chiraskamin of Thailand

As a photographer, I always look for genuine moments that tell stories. The moments that reflect feelings or how the subjects I am working on are connected with one another, or with others are the main reason for me to press the shutter. Mostly, not for how they look. Normally I don't direct my clients what to do. Basically it is just me be there seeing how the event or the day unfolds, find its natural beauty and capture the selected moments from my perspective. That is my style of photography. Photography to me is a visual language. A photograph is like a massage expressing our thoughts and feelings. I prefer taking pictures that tell stories, pictures that reflect not just how do we look at a particular moment but how we feel, what we think and how do we connect with each other. I found that a photograph, well captured, could be very powerful. It reinforces our memory without having to describe a situation in words. As a father of two. I found documentary photography is the best way to capture pictures of my family. I believe that the best smiles are those we are not forced to. Although it takes a lot of effort and anticipation to capture the moment with this photography style, the outcomes are authentic and much more meaningful. [Bangkok Wedding Photographer]

Tamil Nadu and Chennai wedding photography by Sujith Kumar of India

I am Sujith Kumar, a photographer based out of Chennai, India. A Retro Aficionado. Images have always fascinated me, Kodak's focus-free cameras which were a rage in the late '90s was my favorite toy!! I was mentored by Mr.Raghu Lakshminarayanan, who taught me the mind, body, and soul of wedding photography. Becoming a photographer was a fantasy to me more than a dream. Capturing weddings in an unconventional style is what I prefer, whether you call it wedding reportage, wedding photojournalism or candid wedding photography. I along with my team have crisscrossed South India and we consider it a privilege to be part of the most vibrant wedding culture in the world. [Tamil Nadu Wedding Photographer]

Jinhua wedding photography by Hao Pan - Zhejiang, China WPJA

As a wedding photographer for three years, shooting about 80 weddings. I used to be a hip-hop dancer before. If the wedding ceremony is compared to a song, the common place of hip-hop dance and photography is that I interpret it in my own way. Taking some unforgettable moments is like making some great moves when dancing, and I have always been keen to take unique moments belonging to the new couple. Every wedding is unknown and unique. I hope to leave unforgettable memories for each new couple. [Jinhua Wedding Photographer]

Essex, England Wedding Reportage Photographer Nishit Parmar, for United Kingdom

I cannot claim that I have been surrounded by cameras my whole life. I haven’t been taking photos from a young age. The truth is that while my dad loved taking pictures of me, it wasn’t something that I really picked up until I got married. My uncle was known as the photographer of the family and my father would tend to ask him for advice. I just never really understood the joy of taking a photo. I just thought a camera was another toy that my dad had! Following my wedding, this all changed. I found photography to be something that I could really explore my inner creativity. As I said in the video, watching people and their interactions is a little thing that I love doing to pass my time. So by combining the creativity and the joy of capturing moments led me to a career in Wedding Photography as an Asian Wedding Photographer. In 2011 our family was rocked by the sudden illness of my father. This was where photography really instilled in me the sense of capturing and recording a moment forever. The moments that my father and I had had together were forever imprinted in my mind and also on paper. This is not a sad story and my father fought and battled his way through the hard times. He and my mother are my inspirations for Wedding Photography. More recently, my wife and I were blessed with a beautiful, bouncy son. He and my wife are my rocks. The little person who keeps me grounded at all times. He is the person who can instantly melt me. And we have some of the most amazing photos of us together! When we meet, ask me to share these pictures with you, I will instantly turn into the proud father with LOTS of photos! In the last few years, I have been lucky enough to photograph a range of different Wedding Ceremonies. From colourful Indian Weddings, fun Sikh Weddings, beautiful Greek Weddings and intimate English Weddings. [Essex Wedding Photographer]

Wedding Photojournalism - Groomsmen take a car to a mechanic to change a tire in this photo taken by an award-winning wedding photojournalist.
Many WPJA members can trace their roots to the news profession in some way, having shot everything from small-town stories to significant historical events that have led to Pulitzer Prizes. Likewise, many have felt the adrenaline rush that news photojournalists get from bagging the winning touchdown catch, documenting heart-wrenching tragedies and being on the front lines of history. There’s also the gratification of getting published with a byline in a major publication, and the mass-...Read more
Wedding photography detail of bride and bridesmaids Preparing for the ceremony outside in the wind with their bouquets.
With the snap of a shutter, a camera lens captures a single moment in time; one that can never occur again in the exact same way. At any given wedding, there are an infinite number of these moments that pass us by. Some hold in place longer than others; some come and go in the blink of an eye. It is through such fleeting details that some wedding photojournalists earn their keep. With a professional eye honed through years of visual training and practice, they constantly scan the wedding scene...Read more
Show Shutter Wedding Day Photography - Groom dancing at the wedding reception with some blur
Dragging the shutter is a basic photographic technique that is often put to highly creative use by the best wedding photojournalists. Whether depicting the bride mid-whir during a dance, or documenting a child bounding down the aisle at the church, dragging the shutter helps produce images that contain a sense of motion and bring an added dose of festivity to what, for some, already feels like a whirlwind day. When photographers “drag” the shutter by slowing down its speed, they...Read more

A woman holds a little girl's hand while the bride kneels down and smiles at her before the ceremony in this wedding photo | Children photography at weddings.
The start of the great divide between the sexes can be witnessed a lot earlier in life than most believe. Girls and boys participating in weddings around the world demonstrate this time and time again. Frequently, little girls will relish the opportunity to dress up in their finest, while the boys do so begrudgingly, kicking and screaming all the way to the altar, so to speak. However, it doesn’t take long before that divide is bridged, and children are children again, with neither girls nor...Read more

Picture this: It's mid-summer, with temps in the low-80s, a cloudless sky, and oh-so-light gusts keeping everyone just cool enough. Maybe you're out on a bluff, overlooking the ocean, or in a fragrant, blooming garden. A scene is set for the ideal summer wedding. But—back in reality here—there's no way that six to eight months or more down the road any couple can forecast such pristine conditions for their wedding day. We just wanted to say a big thank you. Even as you continue working on the photos, we thought we would like you to know that we are very delighted with our choice of photographer. Seeing what you've sent us thus far reaffirms the joy we experienced the night of our first meeting. Both of us had felt extremely comfortable speaking with you as you were very sincere and your parting words that evening left a strong impression on the wife. We hope you enjoy all your future assignments just as we had thoroughly enjoyed having you cover our big day!

It’s been almost a year since our big day Wow. So much happiness, affection, and emotion flow back to me whenever I see our wedding pictures. I could feel my hubby’s speechless joy and also his little bit awkwardness in every single picture. And omg I looked stunningly happily gorgeous lol. Thank you for catching and taking those precious moments of joy and love into your lenses. Love your detail-orientation and dedication. Hope to have both of you again in our ceremony in a church in the future.

Ronnie, thank you for being our photographer and documenting our wedding in Hong Kong. We are thankful for the communication and the way you try to understand our wants in the consultation process. The locations you scouted for us were aptly chosen and fit well with our story and background. The candid moments you captured in our homes, the banquet hall, and on the streets of Hong Kong gave us much bragging rights and most of all, the perfect way to cherish a special day. We are also thankful for the extra effort you took in creating the custom-made memory drive and photo box. Thank you very much.

We are so glad that we found you to be our wedding photographer because you are so friendly, professional, and responsible. You and your team worked wonderfully with our other film/photography crew, which was very important for us because we had three different groups of photographers/cinematographers. You are very professional and communicated with everyone very well so we never had to worry about crew getting into each others way. You were very responsible, always on time and sent us the final photos very promptly after the wedding. You also were really patient with us whenever we had questions or needed his help. You never seemed irritated or unreliable or unreachable, always happy and quick to reply to my messages. Most importantly, you took beautiful photos of our wedding day and captured all our happy and emotional moments. This made us feel very comfortable and ensured we captured all the essential family photos that we will cherish forever. Your photos were very real and natural and we love them very much! We are so glad that we hired you to be our wedding photographer and would highly recommend all our friends and family to book you as well!
