Judges

  • Coming in extremely tight, throwing a bit of caution to the wind, and in the end it paid off with a fun expression filled frame with a mass of glasses. I wish the woman’s arm with the bracelet was darker - it compliments the action, but by being so glaringly white, it takes a bit away.

  • Great moment and expression. Some photographers might have shot it really tight but keeping it looser and giving his eyes room to the left and keeping the hands/glasses in gives it the context it needs to tell the story.

  • Excellent use of selective focus on the hand and glass. Your background has blurred nicely, yet still allows us to make out the face. Would crop tighter on the left side to tighten the image up.

Judges

  • A wink is very difficult to get. Great job by the photographer, good reflexes.
  • Of course the grooms expression makes it. I don’t know if the bride is going to have a life full of laugher or a life full of frustration. Cropping in from the sides and down from the top to clean it up would have helped a lot, the top is distracting from the great expression.

Photographer's Comment

This photograph was shot in the glimpse of a second. The best man was extremely nervous about making a speech so it was very short. Luckily he was sitting in a spot where I could capture both the bride and groom and him in the same frame. I wanted to keep it interesting though and so I decided to make the photograph more 'about' a speech, then about the reaction to the speech.

Judges

  • The unsusal crop made this one stand out from the others.

Photographer's Comment

I delight in the unexpected moments of a unique wedding day that ultimately become the most heart-felt, story-telling images of the day. The bride had mentioned that she was 'starving' prior to being introduced to the reception, so the staff brought some snacks for the bridal party. Trying to maintain a dainty dignity, the bride thought she was sneaking a quick bite only to be caught unexpectedly by my long-lens. She now laughs at how through the hustle of the day she barely had time to 'chow-down'!

Judges

  • Mmmm... meat. Funny little moment between a bride and her roast beef. Its hard to eat a slab of meat daintily. Nice catch by the photographer.
