1st place in Action
The WPJA contest judges presented Adam Welch, a Colorado, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Although not the most beautiful or technically aesthetic picture I came across, I loved the moment and composition. It's one of those pictures that takes you there and makes you feel like you are part of the action (or at least wish you were!). Great energy, wild composition that adds to the feeling of action and abandon...otherwise known as drunkenness??? :) I love the hand in the foreground bisecting the frame, great expression of dancer on right. The woman in middle, upper frame, with her eyes just on the edge is perfect.
