12th place in Action
The WPJA contest judges presented Josh Stephenson, a Colorado, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- I love the layering of this image. The category is action and what is so cool about this image is how each layer – the front hand/arm, then the ladies faces and then finally the dancing in the background all have an action and emotion attached to them. The framing of the action works well – the right hand of the frame does bother me just a bit but it is a fun image to just look at.
