The Shambles, North Yorkshire elopement picture of the bride and groom and their wedding guests walking
Sophie and Matt (the bride and groom) and their wedding guests walk along the famous 'shambles' in York, towards the reception.
Sophie and Matt had to downsize their wedding considerably, changing venue and location and cutting their guest list to 10. However, I still photographed their day and will be forever grateful for this. It was one of my all-time favorite weddings and shows that you do not need a huge guest list and elaborate venue to have the best day ever. All you need is two people in love - the rest all just falls into place.
All the images are unposed, documentary images - no portraits and any details are captured 'in context' within the moment.
The groom and his best man walk to the ceremony and pause by the river Ouse to chat to passers by - at this point, a dog runs into the river and scares a flock of geese away.
The bride and groom check the time to see if it's time to go in.
The wedding ceremony begins, I was not allowed inside so I took images from the doorway (due to covid regulations).

Wedding Reportage Photography from York, UK of The couple leaving their reception and walk past a box of Corona beer
Sophie and Matt leave their reception and walk past a dumped, empty box of Corona beer - Corona being quite symbolic for 2020! They walk past without a care in the world, just as all couples who have chosen to still get married in 2020 have walked past 'corona' with determination.
