Wedding photographer Andreas Pollok, was awarded 2nd place for photo 1999826 in the Ceremony category for the WPJA's 2017 Tri1 Photography Competition.
- The idea of the flower girls in the foreground, candidly framing the main subject behind, is a very gutsy move. The couple's affectionate embrace is a moment you really don't want to miss, and to shoot low between the children means you could you could really blow this moment entirely. The photographer took this heroic, risky approach and created a really charming image.
The WPJA contest judges presented Andreas Pollok, a Baden-Württemberg, Germany wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
