8th place in Ceremony
The WPJA contest judges presented Todo Hu, a China wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- This is the best kind of juxtapositional moments that depend entirely on the subtlety of expressions, the type that cause us to peer deeper beyond the surface as we try to satisfy our need for meaning. But, the integrity of the image is a look at cultural differences as the man at right appears bewildered by what comes next. My guess is that this man's experience was anything but the expected ceremony. Nonetheless, it doesn’t really matter. It’s a fun image of a moment delightfully noticed and captured.
