2nd place in Action
The WPJA contest judges presented Jeremy Igo, a North Carolina, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Talk about using every possible inch of the frame. This picture is all about the moment. The garter is in the perfect position. It's red. It pops. As you look around the frame you notice that not one of the subject's eyes are blocked. Fingers frame eyes. Arms frame eyes. But everyone has an eye on the prize. The one thing I might find fault with is the exposure is a bit hot, but I can live with it for such as great moment frozen in time. The composition is good and it is peak action - I really liked where the garter was caught in the frame. Terrific moment.
