2nd place in Bride & Groom Toasting
The WPJA contest judges presented Paula Luna, a United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Nicely done. The bride has a lovely smile which is matched by the smile on her husband's face. The light on her face makes her stand out from her husband. They are looking in opposite directions, which has the effect of enlarging the photograph. The bride's gaze takes the viewer to the outstretched glasses to the left of the frame. The groom's gaze takes the viewer out into the unseen room. There is a natural flow in the frame from left to right following the arms of the toasters coming in from the left and leading to the groom's raised glass at the right of the frame. The composition is strong and the moment is a good one – the kind of moment wedding photographers try to capture.
