Larry Stanley
Larry studied photography with his father from the age of 5. Photography became his passion early in his years. Later at the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, California he found his life's work. His career has taken a wide path, including food photography, editorial, architectural, advertising, travel, people and finally wedding photojournalism. He is honored to be a national award winning member of the prestigious WPJA and listed on the Platinum List of Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine.

15th Place: Getting Ready - 2011 Q3 ContestPhotographer's Comment
This image was a real find. I was shooting with the bride minutes before the wedding was scheduled to start and these two sweet Grandmothers showed up at the window to check on the bride and see what the hold up was. The curiosity and excitement in these two lovely women was like a tidal wave of love pouring into the room. I instinctively grabbed two or three frames of this brief event. This was one of my favorite moments of my 2011 weddings!!!

11th Place: Bride Getting Ready - 2009 Q4Photographer's Comment
When Barbara was putting on her wedding day pearls I sensed something special in the moment. My camera was not far from my face and my intuition was correct. The sting of her pearls perfectly reflected her shoulder line. You can see the motion of her hand and hair as I grabbed the image at 1/30 of a second in low light. I love this image.

1st Place: Humor - 2007 Q4Photographer's Comment
This couple jumped at the opportunity of climbing into this library window for photos. The photos after they got installed in the windows are beautiful but the scramble to the top was the image that made me smile. And it seems it made the WPJA team [judges] smile as well! Thanks for the honors of 1st place.

3rd Place: Panorama - 2006 SummerPhotographer's Comment
Sometimes the most serene moments yield breathtaking images. I had just finished shooting on the side of this hill at the Paw's Up Retreat near Missoula, Montana. We called it a 'wrap' and the couple had turned and starting walking down toward the horses they rode in on, when her comes this truck barreling down the road below. My eye caught the potential of this image and I banged off 3 or 4 frames with delight. By far this was the best image of that hillside session. Yeehaw!!!!

4th Place: Sequential (3 images) - 2004 WinterPhotographer's Comment
Nothing like a kiss'n lab to make things really happy. This was a film capture, totally unexpected, and I still love the feeling of film. If you don't believe me just look at those kids faces! OMG!
