Though he has been shooting since those earliest days with his dad, he got serious about photography when he joined his university's student newspaper as a staff photographer covering a wide range of photographic assignments. Since 2007 he has made weddings a larger priority in his work. Photographing them is a rewarding artistic challenge, and they fascinate him from a cultural, social, emotional, and historical perspective, making it very easy to go to work every day.

A staunch believer that photography is an essential and enjoyable part of the wedding celebrations, he prides himself on his ability to get along with clients and providing a professional, fun, unobtrusive, and occasionally quirky photographic experience. He credits many famous photographers and artists, some of whom he has had the privilege to study under, with inspiring him to develop his style. He is particularly awed by the street shooting work of greats such as Cartier-Bresson and Erwitt, especially their ability to transform everyday moments into visual masterpieces.

When not shooting weddings, he enjoys working in the modeling, portraiture, and glamour fields. He loves challenges such as difficult lighting and location, and enjoys bringing this technical problem-solving ability to all his work. He is active in the digital imaging software field as well.

Martin lives in Richmond, BC with his wife, daughter, and dog.
