Marco Ficili

Always surprising…. A strong emotion! This is how I can summarize my passion for photography. It is a never-ending relationship that started when I was a boy, getting involved into it so much that it became my job. I love true photography that tells a story without cheating, showing a magic look or a breathtaking landscape.
I was born in Modica (Italy), a noble and ancient land, at times modern, full of history, traditions and contradictions. I have lived most of my life in Catania, where I graduated at the ‘Principe Umberto’ College of Science. After graduating, I often travelled all over my country looking for the “Photography”. I love being carried away by photography, sometimes I don’t have a clear idea nor a set itinerary, but I know that there is always a new goal: beautiful, new…. different.
I love photography because, in spite of all the years and the several experiences, every time I decide to let myself into it, I’m always surprised.
I attended a photography course at the John Kaverdash Photographic School.
It’s been a great professional and both life experience. I also attended the Still Life and Fashion Photography course at the Lorenzo Maniscalchi Lab in Florence (Italy). These experiences created the fundamentals of my professional knowledge, which I improved through various photographic workshops and my personal commitment.
I got married few years ago and I live in Catania. I love the sea and I go to the beach whenever I can. I like travelling and visiting new places, discovering the small and unknown towns or the big, large cities of our time. I play tennis and love reading novels or essays… guess what… about photography!
In 2000, I opened my photographic studio in Catania. I started shooting for advertisement agencies, fashion editorials and running portrait sections. Besides, I quickly carved a niche amongst more traditional wedding photographers, teaching my staff truth and spontaneity as our studio passwords. I broke down with the traditional photography schemes, in order to focus the attention back to the event and to the protagonists. A world where the camera is just the way to tell a story and the photographer is the one who tells the story with sensitivity, without interfering.
It often happens to put together my passion for travelling and my job, so I realize events and wedding photographic services in the most beautiful and romantic Italian cities and little towns and sometimes I go abroad. My customers love my works because they stand out for a spontaneous and both evocative style.
I have received numerous photography awards from the WPJA: “Wedding Photo Journalism Association”, whose I am also a member. During the last years I won different awards, among which an amazing first place. In 2008 I took part in the “Creative quality in Professional Photography Award” (Italian Association of Professional Photographers), announced by TAU VISUAL winning the first place in the “Private images” category. This prestigious award has many renowned people in the publishing, photography and mass media world in its panel. My pictures are often published in important wedding magazines, such us White Sposa, Vogue Sposa.
