Emotion

I like the way the young woman is isolated from the background. The capturing of the single tear, the glance and expression comes together for a very strong image.
In light of the other two top-three pictures, this choice may seem odd, but sometimes simple nails the moment. The light is just right, the expression is just right, the framing is just right. Sometimes photographers just step back and show us something unambiguously and simply. This is what it looks like when it is done well.

Great use of focus to draw the viewer into a very sensitive image.

A nice emotional moment. What put this one above the rest is that the reason for the emotion, the bride, is also part of the photo. Great journalistic storytelling.

Great narrative. Powerful image.
A nice quiet emotional moment well documented by the photographer. This is a picture that I am sure will become more treasured in years to come. Kudos to the photographer for bringing the viewer in while maintaining a fly on the wall presence.

The photographer took advantage of nice light that helped highlight the tear in the woman's eye.

Sometimes reflections in mirrors are over used, but here is an example where it is used well. Nice job capturing this group hug and creating a strong image using the surrounding environment.

On the one hand, how can you lose with the bride and groom being waved around while sitting in chairs? A pretty common shot, if this contest is any indication. But this one is nice because it captures an almost quiet connection between the bride and groom during the mayhem. Well seen.

A strong emotional image. The expression on the subjects face framed by the placement of his hands around the bride's shoulders makes for a compelling image where the viewer can feel the father or grandfathers emotion.
