It's not perfectly composed (the face behind the bride and the flowers behind the groom are distracting; the distribution of people behind the wedding couple is not handled quite right) but the payoff of the woman making faces at the baby is priceless and trumps the picture's shortcomings.,

A perfect moment that captures the exchange of much more than vows.,

Where else but at a wedding do you find people who are this happy?,

There's a wonderful innocence in the moment, accentuated by how the young girl's perfectly framed tilt and smile, and the fact that she's the only one whose face is seen, breaks from the controlled, erect symmetry of everyone else in the photo.,

A moment before this frame was taken, I noticed the flower girl trying to get someone's (probably her mom) attention. I started taking photos of that and then when she got whomever's attention she was trying to get, she lit up and waved at her! So cute! Right place, right time.

Often, anticipation is half the battle; this image is a demonstration of such success. Photographed beautifully, shallow depth of field adds to the frame. ,

The quiet moment of a precocious youth juxtaposed against an unknowing couple. A thinking photographer's frame. Nice use of light and patience to capture this moment.

Delightful. We desperately want to be in on the joy and joke they are exchanging, whatever it is.,

8th Place: Luis Efigénio from Braga, PortugalJudges Comments
Because the bride appears to be laughing (and we assume she wasn't hurt) we can laugh with her rather than at her, and appreciate this as one of those unscripted moments that made their wedding unique.

Beautiful image. The image screams romance with its tone. Great framing to get the setting sun in the right position.

Simple moments can often be overlooked. The photographer was able to capture this humorous moment between groom and groomsmen.,

It’s absolutely a groom’s day too, no question.,

A nice job of seeing and timing to capture the variety of expressions, ranging from a strong cry to the demure patting away of tears (and then there's the one bridesmaid who seems a bit less emotional).,

Many times the musicians aren't included in photos because of their positions. This is one of the few images I have ever seen of a bride and groom framed by a lone musician in the balcony. This took preparation and was executed with perfection.,

A very intimate moment composed for maximum effect.,

The patience and vision of the photographer made this frame successful. A minor crop to from the top, right, and a sliver from the bottom would clean up and enhance this frame.,
Photographer's Comment
This was shot as the men processed to the outdoor ceremony. I was careful to position myself for a clear shot around the floral arrangements so I could get a nice, clean, graphic image to capture the moment.
