Reception Ambiance

An appealing image in this category as it effectively provides a good sense of place and captures the intimate mood of this small reception. Good use of asymmetry in the composition. I also appreciate the strong use of complementary colors - blue of the sky against the warm tungsten glow of the reception, although shifting the color balance setting more toward the Kelvin of tungsten could have eliminated some of the more egregious orange/red while at the same time intensifying the blue of the sky.

Beautiful color and existing light really add up to another fine image. The location doesn't hurt, either. Simple and nice pattern of light. The color temperature of this picture is quite appealing.

Rain on your wedding day. Could be a bummer for all involved, but the photographer managed to make a beautiful story-telling image anyway. Exactly what photojournalism is about. Documenting a situation (good or bad) to communicate reality to the viewer. No bride likes rain on her wedding day, but this scene captured by the photographer makes it look beautiful. A memorable detail.

Clearly a very elegant and formal wedding. I like the way the photographer captured the couple dancing outside the tent. An image that says it all beautifully - the setting, the guests and the dancing bride and groom. Nice color palette and quality of light, but the image would have benefited from a bit more technical control over the balance of light, depth of field and the motion. In other words there is more overall softness than is desirable.

I liked the contrast of the industrial setting outside to the formal elegance on the inside. The “storyteller†in the photographer created a nice detail about the location.

All the elements in this picture add and add and add to one another to make a great picture that screams ambiance. Color, light, moment, composition, graphics, angle... It's got it all.

Light and shadow topped off with the intimate glimpse at the foreground couple really capture the spirit of this place.

Effective image conveying the formality of the reception – nice interplay of the circles of the table, cake, chandelier, and the plasterwork on the ceiling against the more linear elements of the stately architecture – all of which the eye is subtly led through by attention the photographer paid to the quality of light. Inclusion of the open door and the wind blown effect on the table linen adds to an anticipatory feeling of everything in it's place just waiting for the bride, groom and guests who are about to blow through the door.

I like the way the photographer captured the couple dancing inside this building with high exposed beams decorated with white lights. This strikes me as a formal reception in a somewhat rustic setting.

Perfect moment of the bride and groom noses just about to touch against the warm ambiance of the guest filled room and the details of the ornate chandeliers, Captures what it feels like more than exactly what it looks like – a compelling image.

The photographer has captured the ambience of a reception that's being held on the grounds of a beautiful historic home, with an ensemble playing soft background music. This is clearly an elegant, sophisticated wedding.

Really nice seeing by the photographer. Bless you for not using a strobe to kill the ambiance created by the warm tent light and the cold evening light. The clothes pins really offer a nice graphic element. I'd love to see this picture really, really big.

This photo must have been taken in India. The decorated elephants, the lights and the beautiful architecture of the building signal that an exotic reception awaits the guests.

Wow! Now that's a party! I think the lighting is handled well for such a big, big crowd of reception goers. The elegant feel just oozes from this image from the bride's gown and wrap to the black-tied individuals. The classic marble pillars also help drive the point home.
