5th place in Bouquet/Garter (Action)
The WPJA contest judges presented Todd Hougas, a wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- A good example of how direction of movement and leading lines draw the eye to the focal point of a photograph. The subjects on both sides of the frame in this photograph all direct the eye to the bride's garter, which is wrapped around her ankle and being pulled off around her shoe by the groom's teeth! The women on the left of the frame helping the bride and the men on the right of the frame helping the groom are a perfect compliment to one another in body language and expression. This is a funny photograph of a moment at a wedding as it starts to get a little wild.
