It's difficult to get a clean wonderful dance shot at the reception. The light is low and everyone is in the way. This photograph shows how to get around all of that. It's a perfect pan at the perfect moment. It was ahead of all the rest because of what the photographer brought to the scene. This is another technically difficult dancing photo, but worth the effort.

Everyone's perfect in the image, one of those photos one can only hope for.

Good photographs come to those who wait. This photographer obviously hung around.

All across the frame, all the components of this image combine to create this really nice photo. The hands all raised, his clapping and the background light all are near perfect.

The originality of this picture made it stand out right away. The photographer made sure to include both shoes in this image of a jumping/dancing woman, and I think that really makes the frame a success.

Technical excellence coupled with the attitude of the bride makes this a must have image even with flash. Flash can be the friend of the photographer or the enemy.

This image conveys the excitement and playfulness of the bride and groom. The extra effort to light the reception hall can really make the difference in the quality of the photo. Here we can clearly see the expressions of the bride and groom.

This image has expression, the thrill of dance and more from the point of view of the guests.

Good photographs are sometimes just fun photographs. This is one of them.

This has got to be the fairy-tale image that every little girl (and father of the bride) wishes for their wedding. Almost dreamlike with the slow shutter, and the white hair of the dad(?) along with her arm makes for a winner.

I appreciate the similicity and solitude of this image. Not all dancing images have to be of the wild-and-crazy variety. Sometimes it pays to look for the quiet moments that might happen, for example: before, after, or between songs.

This photographer wasn't afraid to get his/her knees dirty. Nice moment, nice composition and well lit. The little girl is the star. Photographing children from their level gives them more importance. Often times it is easier to shoot everything at eye level. The level that the image was shot is just as important as the lens choice. Well done
Photographer's Comment
Since I had scouted the location well, I was able to set up a few lights in the reception area (an old and charming theater) exactly where I needed them to be. I always try to prepare a few different strobes in different ways so I can mix and match depending on the scenario that presents itself. I can switch the lighting combinations around on my pocket wizards (radio remote controls that sit on top of the camera). This moment was simple to capture: It was a square dance and they repeated the back and forth movement three times and I knelt down in where they would meet, adjusted myself to line up with the strobe's burst and waited. As far as lighting scenarios go, it is nice to set up something to augment the low light levels in reception areas and also to set up a few bolder lighting scenarios that like this one. ,

Ballroom dancing 101. This wide shot, with her diagonal leg, makes for a great image.

Joyful dance captured with excellence should be what photographers are delivering in spades from most weddings. This photograph makes me wish I knew the couple. That's the kind of intimacy only still photographs bring to the table

This image is nice, but it's very close to being really nice. The child in the lower right corner is a little too cut off, and if the kid was in the frame more, it would be much more powerful.

This is a nice moment that captures great body dancing language.

Taking a gamble here, not including the entire bodies of the dancers and utilizing the available light speaks to the photographer's capabilities.

Perfect lighting and composition makes this image a real gas.
