Great shot of traditional scene at Jewish weddings. The older gentleman up in the chair is completely in the moment and that is captured. Good mix of color with fill-flash and background

Has ambiance of a 1950's movie set. Normally the heavy shadows would be distracting but here it adds to the mood. Love the garter in the air and expression on guy's face as he's about to get it, and the little boy with his hands out in the background.

Peak action, good expression and sense of movement created by slow shutter speed combined with flash are effective. The composition is wonderful. The large shoes add to the comedic moment. The light from the strobe is better than one would expect. The photographer took what could have been a difficult lighting situation and produced a playful image through good technique and camera angle.

It may appear that kid photos are natural winners. Not true. Story-telling images win. Great moments win. Composition, lighting and color win. Mood and emotion wins. This image has it all.

COMMENTS: Sense of soaring and expression turns a static portrait situation into a visual feast.

What a wonderful moment. Hopefully images like this inspire us all to be vigilant. Never allow yourself to think a scene has been shot so many times that it holds little value. The receiving line is obligatory photography. We can shoot it in our sleep. But, when you least expect it, a moment can occur. Be ready. Don't sleep through it. When you do … nightmares follow.

This is an artful frame. It's no great moment but it's a moment recorded great. It's fun, playful and handled well by the photographer. The slow shutter speed respects the sparklers. The strobe respects the smiles. Put them together for an award-winning image.

Love the moment here, it's as if she is telling the other bride's maid, ‘now remember all smiles when we go out there, got it?†And the bride with her veil up—these are the unusual little moments that are really intimate and personal.
