Comunidade Hindu de Portugal Elopement Image from Lisboa showing a ceremony with no reception and party

The bride and groom had a small Hindu wedding ceremony with only family and a few friends in attendance

Amita and Miguel were committed to marrying in 2020, due to a family agreement.  So after the first COVID-19 confinement, they managed to quickly organize their wedding.

The wedding had more or less 25 guests (their close family and friends).  Due to safety measures, they could only do the Hindu ceremony with no reception and party, at least in the Comunidade Hindu of Portugal venue.

It was almost 2.5 hours of emotive ceremony, where the barriers of 2 different cultures were broken for love's sake.

In the last lap to the fire, the bride goes ahead as a sign of the family's protective shield, as this is what faces the obstacles of life on the front lines. At this moment, the bride's brothers hold the groom's foot preventing him from proceeding and completing the last lap, when he goes to touch the stone. They only let the wedding ritual end if the groom leaves an “envelope” to take the bride with him (it is the best man who manages the negotiation). It is a traditional joke.
