Washington DC wedding and elopement photography by Natasha Lamalle

I love candid photos, the small moments between friends or two lovers, the very short instant which nobody will remember if a camera wasn't around to catch it. I have been taking pictures since I was a kid. I have started taking professional pictures ten years ago using my camera to tell stories with a journalism aspect. I now want to use my skills to photograph your wedding with my unique point of view on photography. Your love is a story and my job is to describe it through my photos. As a photojournalist, I have won many international photo competitions, and have been selected for many collective exhibitions in Paris, Great Britain and Finland. My personal work is an important part of my photography skills. [Washington DC Wedding Photographer]

Washington DC Elopement and Wedding Photography by Anji Martin

As a kid, I always wanted to preserve forever moments that were special to me, such as birthday parties and family Christmases. When I was eight years old, my father made that possible for me by giving me his old camera. From then on, I became the de facto family photographer and started documenting every get-together. I didn't know it at the time, but all that practice ended up preparing me for my career as an adult. That same passion for capturing moments for people has naturally led me to become a wedding and elopement photographer. Together with my husband/business partner, I have now been helping couples document their wedding days for several years. We primarily serve brides and grooms in the Washington, DC, area, but are always available to travel for destination weddings. We have lived on five different continents and speak five languages fluently, so it is easy for us to take our passion for photography to exotic wedding locations. District Of Columbia wedding and elopement photography by Edward Underwood

I am a Washington DC-based photographer living in Northwest with my wife, and two boys, Preston and Chase. My parents have a photo of me at two wearing my dad’s boots and holding his Polaroid Land Camera. I bought my first camera with some Christmas money at eight, and I went about documenting everything around me. My happy place is on a plane to someplace far away from DC, documenting people and eating as much spicy food as possible. My aim is to capture organic moments that my clients create and allow for memories to unfold naturally. The goal is capturing photos that reflect people’s authentic emotions. Over the last decade, I have been awed and honored to capture people’s special moments. When not shooting weddings, I photograph interiors and read about 40 books a year. I’m Mantas Kubilinskas. I am a Lithuania-born, D.C.-based photographer. Photography is more than my job. It is my hobby and my passion. As a photographer, every day is like Christmas for me. I get just as excited for each session as a kid admiring his wrapped gifts on Christmas morning. Each couple brings me the opportunity for something new and amazing. I love creating and capturing those moments of passion and happiness between two people. My work is all about action, composition and emotion. My vision is to catch the excitement, solemnity, humor, love, or happiness of a moment to be remembered for years to come. Whatever you feel the day of the session, you will feel every time you look at your photographs.I do not focus too much on the details or simply going through the same-old checklist of events to document. Sometimes to catch the action and feeling behind an event you have to look at the bigger picture, shoot from a different angle, tell a joke. My photography is not about me. It’s about you, about the couples. In my sessions, I direct couples to compose beautiful, natural photos, but what I love, is making them laugh. My images expose that genuine, human happiness couples look for in their photos. It’s my favorite part of what I do. I want you to be passionate about my photography style and vision too! Enjoy my portfolios here on my website. I look forward to making you laugh, capturing your story and creating breath-taking photographs to evoke those day-of emotions all over again. Hi! I am Abe, and I am an event photographer lucky enough to be working in the Washington, D.C. area. Cityscapes, rolling mountains, wineries, riversides, history, Capitol Hill... Everything is here! I find photographing weddings immensely rewarding and also challenging at the same time. There are always small and special moments happening between the big moments on the wedding day. The challenge is finding the right mix of anticipation, preparation, and luck to capture a story that not only shows the height of those huge wedding day moments, but the depth of emotion between the guests, families, and the happy couple. Plus, I like to be a fun-enabler. Photography should be fun. Weddings should be fun. And I work to make your wedding photographs fun to look at. I take this as serious business. Now, amongst posing couples in amazing light, pleasantly directing large crowds of wedding revelers, and 'enabling the fun', the vast majority of my work is captured candidly and with photojournalism in mind. This approach makes my clients look gorgeous on the biggest day of their lives and tells the story through their wedding ceremony and reception. So, based on a few of my experiences, here are things I will gladly do during your wedding day: - I will submerge my camera underwater to get photos of you scuba diving with your wedding clothes on - I will go into a barnyard pasture with a close-talking donkey and your crazy horse for a portrait session - I will help your inebriated wedding guests find their way back to the reception, despite being a few miles from said reception - I will go to the middle of Greece for your storybook wedding in a small fishing village - I will get stranded overnight literally on the side of a mountain in Colorado with your rock-climbing wedding party. Yeah, that one almost ended me... - I will let the flower girl dump her basket of petals on me during the processional - If dogs are present, I will rile them up for some unexpected memorable moments - And I will go to the very middle of China for an amazing traditional wedding ceremony in a giant city filled with delicious food. All that said, I'm excited to meet you and let's make it happen. -Abe [Washington DC Wedding Photographer]

Baltimore adventure wedding photography by Kathleen Ricker of Maryland

I am a no-make-up... t-shirt wearing... animal-loving... travel obsessed, Love is Love Believer, foot in mouth extroverted introverted wedding & wildlife photographer based outside of Washington DC... (that was a mouth-full). I have been shooting weddings around the world for over 10 years. My work mixes all the best parts of wedding photography... intimate little moments, truly epic portraits, and fun family photos that are more than just stand here and smile. I try to work with my couples to create unique pieces of artwork, making their images stand out from anything they have ever seen before. My photographs are Bold, Colorful, and Real. I love emotion and work to incorporate that in all my work. I do this by investing in getting to know my couples. I am not a wham bam thank you photographer. We will be spending way more than just your wedding day together and after your wedding is over I totally expect to be grabbing drinks with you. While I primarily shoot weddings in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, I absolutely love traveling and I love meeting up with couples while I am on an adventure (and it's only partly for hiking buddies) I give my couples affordable opportunities to travel with me anywhere in the world for elopements, mini weddings, and engagement sessions. I especially love traveling to the National Parks here in the US and frequently offer deals for full-day adventures! When I am not shooting weddings I am traveling the world-leading wildlife educational conservation photography tours. I take my clients to mostly East Africa where they have the opportunity to trek with Mountain Gorillas. I am an advocate for Wildlife Conservation around the world and have traveled to all Seven Continents photographing wildlife. Some of my wedding couples have even joined me for their honeymoons! Key West wedding photography by Michael Freas of Florida

Michael describes himself as “a real-moments photographer”. He strives to create bold, artistic portraits that are worthy of celebration. His unique perspective and down to earth personality translates well with clients, and he takes time to get to know all of his wedding couples. Michael likes to push the limits of creativity and thrives off of spontaneity. He focuses on the story of the day and how it unfolds, documenting the romance and love. When Michael was in high school, his grandfather gave him his first camera, a Kodak Ektra 100 and he began shooting film. It was during this time that the seed was planted for Michael’s unique eye for composition. A lifelong soccer player, Michael played goalkeeper in high school and college. As a goalkeeper, you have to anticipate movements, much the same way you have to anticipate special moments happening at a wedding. His documentarian style captures these fleeting moments creating images that are authentic and timeless. Each year, Michael shoots around 50 full-day weddings, including many destination and elopement weddings. An avid outdoorsman, Michael enjoys traveling to new places and exploring the beauty of the natural world. He loves all activities on the water including fishing, boating, and surfing. Michael is inspired by nature, light, abstract design and the love he witnesses between his couples. [Key West Wedding Photographer]

My love of photography was sparked when my brother was getting married. It wasn't until his wedding (ten years ago!) that I decided to purchase my first "real camera" and I haven't turned back since. I want you to feel completely at ease, confident in the connection we’ve established; and secure in the knowledge that I will be fully present, ready to document every moment, as your day evolves organically. I consider it a complete honor to be entrusted with photographing your marriage celebration, preserving the spectacular moments shared between the two of you and your loved ones for years to come. Virginia elopement, wedding photographer and WPJA award winner Andrew Morrell

Mine is a love story, the marriage of art and technology, fused by curiosity and an abiding love of music, and consummated by the giddy discovery of shooting weddings. My professional career began far from cameras, powered by a love of music, as I worked my way through an always upward engagement with NPR. From small member stations to popular national music programs, culminating in a visionary job creating NPR's first satellite news stream for Sirius Satellite Radio, my 20 years in the public radio world was the alchemy of music, journalism, and curiosity that set aflame my next (and current) career of wedding photography. I came to adore the challenge of shooting weddings about a minute and a half after I started nervously shooting my very first one. The responsibility, the excitement, the pure human moments - captivated me from the start. That was 2006, and after 500 weddings, that spark and energy remain. Aside from photography, my other lifelong passion is drumming and music - specifically improvised music. I bring the element of improvisation into all of my weddings and elopements. Using a fresh eye and the surprise of a moment, I like to make genuine, honest and organic moments. When I'm not working, I spend time with my rescue Golden and making music in my studio. After eight years as a newspaper staff photographer and a lifetime passion for photography, Heather moved into weddings full time in 2008. Her husband Rob (still a staff photographer) is often a second shooter and photographs a few on his own each year. They both LOVE to travel and currently call Virginia home so they stay around the DC, Eastern Shore, and Outer Banks area most of the time. Heather limits herself to 20-30 weddings a year (and Rob does less) so they can provide the personal attention to every couple that they are known for and artistically capture the unique moments & details that make every wedding special alongside fun and often candid portraits. True photojournalists at heart, they work unobtrusively so you can be free to enjoy the day instead of "smiling for the camera." Heather Hughes Ostermaier (formally Heather S. Hughes) has been published in USA Today, People, The Knot, and the "America 24/7" & "Virginia 24/7" books to name a few. She has captured hundreds of wedding stories since 2003. Both are graduates from Ohio University's prestigious Visual Communications program (where they met at the school's newspaper), taught at Truth with a Camera, and were accepted to attend the Eddie Adams Workshop in consecutive years. Heather was named Virginia's Small Newspaper Photographer of the Year and has won numerous awards for her lifestyle, sports, and wedding photography over the years. Baltimore wedding and elopement photography by Breanna Shaw of Maryland

This business is the happiest accident of my life. What started as a hobby turned into my life’s mission. The most important thing in our short time on this planet is connection – and it’s the greatest honor of my life to be able to connect with so many amazing people and through my camera be able to show them how they love and how they are loved. When I’m not photographing weddings, I am a rock climber, scuba diver, glass blower (#breablowsglass on Instagram), world traveler, and cat mom to Sherlock (@sherlocknessmonster on Instagram). During the winter, I teach a video class at the Sheffield Institute of the Recording Arts and I love having a positive impact on my students. Everything I love to do challenges me personally and makes me a stronger person. I feel the most alive when I feel connected to this beautiful planet and the people on it. Harrisburg wedding and elopement photography by Scott Josuweit of Pennsylvania

I focus on capturing important moments in the most authentic and creative ways possible so my couples can be the rockstars that they are. None of my weddings look exactly the same because I treat each wedding like it should be: unique. Your wedding day isn't my personal photoshoot. I want the two of you to truly enjoy your engagement and wedding and live in those moments. In my spare time, you'll probably find me drinking some delicious craft beer, stuffing my face with local food, and spending time with my friends and family. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. My fiancé and I traveled to Ireland in 2017, western Canada in 2018, and toured all of the southern US in 2019. I love dogs but became more of a cat person when I adopted an adorable gray tabby cat named Chloe seven years ago. I'm an adrenaline junkie. I've been skydiving, ziplining, whitewater rafting, and much more. I live for the thrill! [Harrisburg Wedding Photographer]

I love photographing people's stories! We are all so special and unique, with so much to offer the world in our own little ways. The camera is this magical tool that allows me access into these intimate moments in people's lives. So that's what I like to focus on most...the moments. They can be quite moments, when someone grabs your hand in comfort...or they can be louder when a Dad loses it seeing his daughter in her wedding gown. It's amazing. I've largely had a camera my entire life. It started with an old Nikon film camera my Dad had. Then in college I had the most amazing job, documenting our University's outdoor program. Photographing our trips where we went hiking, climbing, rafting, etc. It truly was a blessing. After college, I started photographing friends' weddings, not thinking much about wedding photography as a career...but as time went on, I realized I really did love the chaos of a wedding day, that one day when all these people of different stages in one's life come together to celebrate love. So I left my career as an Environmental Engineer and haven't looked back. [Mississippi Wedding Photographer]

Pittsburgh wedding photography by Erica Dietz of Pennsylvania

...and I am a wedding photojournalist. This means that I specialize in candid (also called documentary style or simply unposed) photography. I enrolled in college as a young artist where I learned how to create and critique art, which would later become the foundation for my photography career. After graduating in 2008, I took an internship as a photojournalist at The Valley News Dispatch--now known as Trib Total Media--where I fell in love with visual storytelling and the year I shot my first wedding. I spent 8 years working for the newspapers—during the week I was shooting assignments full-time and shooting weddings on my weekends. In 2015, I decided to focus 100% of my energy on weddings. I took what I loved most about photojournalism and carried it to my wedding photography. My appreciation for art taught me composition and awareness to light, and the skills I developed as a photojournalist trained me to document candid moments with ease. I combine these elements in fun ways to help you relax in front of the camera and capture your personality, not poses. In addition to beautiful candid (and a few posed) portraits of yourselves, I also look for the little moments to tell the story of your day. Whether that is a photo of your flower girls giggling in the back of the church, detail shots of macaroni art hanging on your fridge from your in-home lifestyle family session, or a candid portrait of yourself with a huge laugh with nose wrinkles from your high school senior session. I reside in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania in Butler County but I am willing to travel to document your milestone event, whatever or wherever it may be. Be sure to check out my blog (linked here) to view my most recent work. Feel free to add me on social media as well! I love getting to know my clients on a personal level. Three time Pulitzer Prize nominee Eva Russo is the owner and main photographer for Photo Lady Love, Inc. She was born in Chicago, raised in Italy, moved to France and then settled back in the United States. A graduate in photojournalism from the prestigious Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Eva uses still photography, video and audio in her photographic storytelling on both short and long-term projects. Eva received two nominations for the Pulitzer Prize for her two-year-long project documenting living and working conditions in the Richmond City Jail. Her work focused on the daily life and struggles of the inmates as well as mental health and recidivism issues. Her third Pulitzer Prize nomination was for her work documenting a Vietnamese community in New Orleans East as it recovered from Hurricane Katrina. As a staff photographer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch in Richmond, Virginia, Eva covered daily assignments ranging from little league games to political campaigns to the Queen of England’s visit to Virginia. However, her passion for social documentary projects has always been what makes her tick. Her accolades and award-winning coverage for the Richmond Times-Dispatch include coverage of the Winter Olympics, the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shootings, the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi, the 2009 Presidential Inauguration and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. In 2010 Eva decided to embrace an exciting new adventure in her life and she founded Photo Lady Love, Inc. Applying the same storytelling concepts to a wedding day as she would to a newspaper story, Eva has devoted increasingly more time over the past few years to documenting joyful, tearful, momentous and exciting occasions in people’s lives. From wedding days to first babies, engagements to anniversaries, documenting love and joy has contributed a refreshing balance to Eva’s career and the stories she loves to tell. This new chapter in Eva’s career became an opportunity for further growth when, in the summer of 2012, Eva left her staff position at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, married her love and moved to the Washington, DC area. Eva now divides her time between documentary wedding and lifestyle coverage, freelancing for newspapers such as The Washington Post and The Washington Times, mentoring and teaching photography workshops with Momenta Workshops, documenting the work of local nonprofits and pursuing her love of food and food photography. Never letting the grass grow under her well-manicured photographer’s feet, but always stopping to smell the roses, Eva considers herself one of the lucky people who loves her job. It was a natural move for Ryan to start photographing weddings after working in newspapers for nine years. The same skills he used to photograph unscripted news events allow him to capture the special moments of a young couple's wedding, like the loving glance during a first dance, the look in a mother's face as she hugs her son, a bride and her maid of honor sharing a laugh before the ceremony. Ryan Rayburn earned his photography degree in 1998 then became a photojournalist working for newspapers in Colorado, California, Illinois and Maryland. Ryan's photographs have been published in the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times Community News, Northwest Herald, The Gazette and Bethesda Magazine. He also is a photographer for the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. Ryan currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland with his fiancee Karen. [Baltimore Wedding Photographer]

Arlington wedding photography by Gabriele Stonyte of Virginia

When I was a young girl growing up in Lithuania, I fell in love with everything about weddings. I got caught up in the joy, beauty, and emotion, and the sweet connections that happened between family and friends always made me smile. I still feel that way today. Now I am living my dream as a wedding photographer in Washington D.C., and traveling for destination weddings nationally and abroad. I am known for my documentary style which keeps me focused on candid moments and true emotions. It’s those kinds of story-telling wedding photos that you will see throughout my portfolio. When you trust me to be your wedding photographer, I want my photos to speak to you about your life, (not just make you look amazing). Of course, I’ll capture gorgeous portraits, group shots, and details to fill in your collection, and I’ll do it all without controlling the flow of your celebration. When you look at your photo years from now I want you to feel the emotions you felt on your wedding day, just like it was yesterday, and remember how comfortable you felt in front of the camera. If you find yourself drawn to my work, please reach out. I would love to know what captures your heart and makes you smile, and if our calendars align I would be thrilled to be your wedding photographer. Thank you so much William! I just took a quick spin through and they are beautiful! Again, super big thank you. Pete and I know how early you came and how late you worked and we REALLY appreciate it. The pictures are beautiful and it's so wonderful having these moments captured forever. You were a pleasure to work with and I plan to recommend you to anyone who asks.

Our wedding photo experience with you was exceptional! You were very professional and creative. All of our photographs turned out more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. You were able to capture the feelings and the beauty of our very special day in every photo. You were a pleasure to work with and our wedding day turned out to be the most amazing day. Your relaxed and creative style allowed us to have a lot of fun and really be ourselves. Most of the time, we didn’t even know you were there taking our photo. The photographs are amazing and we had so many to choose from. You set out to capture the beauty and magic of our special day and succeeded beyond all of our expectations. You are a true professional and talented photographer. We can’t thank you enough for providing us with beautiful memories that will last a lifetime!

You were very responsive and flexible. Your eye and style are fantastic and you are very calm and collected. Since the day we booked over the phone long distance, you made us feel very confident and relaxed in choosing your service. We saw preview photos the very next day and we LOVE them. Your value is excellent and I highly recommend you to anyone. We can't wait to see the rest of the photos!
