Julie Ambos has devoted herself to moment driven photojournalistic wedding photography in Key West, Florida.

Julie's fascination with photography started early. Hanging in her family home were two side-by-side portraits: one of her sister, perfectly coiffed and surrounded by carefully arranged stuffed animals; and one of Julie, tangled hair, one sock falling down and struggling to put on a pair of shoes. Julie passed those photos every day until the idea that people and character should be in photographs was as second nature as bee-bopping to ’80s music. Fast-forward fifteen years and you will meet a self-made, successful, award-winning artists who, despite her interest in all visual mediums, has devoted herself exclusively to candid moment driven photojournalistic photography in Key West. Below the bubbly surface that will charm both bride and groom is a serious professional and incredible artists. [Key West Wedding Photographer]

Andrea Mabry is a wedding photographer from Birmingham, Alabama

As a wedding photojournalist, I create vibrant, playful, engaging imagery that evokes the emotion of your wedding day. Based in Birmingham, AL with a second home base in New Orleans, I especially love photographing weddings that have a little flair, be that in the form of a backyard reception, a second line or a crazy dance party. No matter how you choose to celebrate, the truth is I will probably cry at your wedding. My art form is capturing people’s emotions. When photographing you, I try to feel what you are feeling and translate that into moving imagery. The magic of weddings moves me. As a photographer, I am interested in creating beautiful images, particularly images involving people. I consider myself a highly empathetic person, so while beautiful pictures are part of the deal, I am most interested in learning about you through your emotions, actions, and reactions, capturing those real moments that happen during and in between the planned portions of the day. NYC wedding photography by Kelly Williams

I love what I do. I love telling the story of someone’s love, life, and happiness in one frame. While I started out wanting to be a screenwriter and spent many years toiling away in the financial world, the instantaneous thrill of capturing a memory by simply pressing the shutter button hooked me in 2004 and I have been a visual storyteller ever since with work featured in such publications as Martha Stewart Living and New York Magazine. I’ve lived all over the world and I am from Florida originally, but I’m proud to call New York City home. The vitality of NYC is something I pack into each and every photograph. I’m constantly roaming the streets and subway for new inspiration. So if you see me on the street with camera in hand, stop and say hi. I’d love to show you the city through my lens. Creative Portraits and wedding photography | Bride & groom portrait walking in front of colorful wall outside
Portraits are part of every wedding, of course, but some photos have the ability to sear themselves into the memory, providing an unforgettable image that rises above the common convention. Wedding photojournalists shooting portraits work within an expanded set of parameters, just like their counterparts in the news world: Some direction and setup is acceptable in order to fully capture subjects in the context of who they are and what they are feeling. Yet everyone approaches wedding portraits...Read more
A woman holds a little girl's hand while the bride kneels down and smiles at her before the ceremony in this wedding photo | Children photography at weddings.
The start of the great divide between the sexes can be witnessed a lot earlier in life than most believe. Girls and boys participating in weddings around the world demonstrate this time and time again. Frequently, little girls will relish the opportunity to dress up in their finest, while the boys do so begrudgingly, kicking and screaming all the way to the altar, so to speak. However, it doesn’t take long before that divide is bridged, and children are children again, with neither girls nor...Read more
Wedding Photography of Busy Getting Ready Scene | Image of the groom enjoying himself as the bride, her bridesmaids, and her mom try to get her bustled for the cocktail hour
A wedding is not just the culmination of a couple’s commitment. It’s also the final product of much planning and preparation. Yet despite the best-laid plans, your big day won’t necessarily get a free pass from Murphy’s Law. Some chaos is almost inevitable at some point along the way. Luckily, when you hire a wedding photojournalist, you have someone on hand who is an expert in capturing those moments as memorable visual stories that you’ll enjoy for years to come. Some of our own WPJA members...Read more
Denis Gostev, of New York, is a wedding photographer for St. Francis Xavier Church
You can argue that of all the photos on your wedding day, the ones taken during the ceremony are the most meaningful—that’s why you’re there, right? It’s ironic, then, that wedding photojournalists regularly have the most trouble shooting their best work in the churches where these very ceremonies take place. Often times, significant moments unfold in front of camera lenses that are too far away, positioned at awkward angles, and photographers are forced to operate under...Read more
Wedding Photojournalist captures generations | The bride shares a moment with her mother and grandmother before the ceremony
When you hire a WPJA member to document your wedding, you will most likely receive original, dynamic photos that capture the story of the day. Often this story contains many intimate moments that might appear insignificant to an outsider. But to you, they have tremendous meaning; able to always bring you right back to the people, the place, and the emotion of that day. Obviously, the emotional aspect of a wedding isn’t just about the love between the bride and groom. Family plays an important...Read more
Sybil Rondeau, of , is a wedding photographer for Domaine des Forges
While you may have picked out a beautiful, rustic church, a serene outdoor setting, and a posh reception hall as ideal backdrops to your wedding photographs, the shots don't stop there. Remember: The wedding photojournalist's mission is to document the entire day. And one of the often overlooked, and maybe under-appreciated settings for photos during your wedding day occurs while the bride, groom and other members of the wedding party are in a car, limo, party bus or other forms of...Read more

We are totally blown away by the photos you took of us for our engagement shoot. Wow!!! Yes, we are very pleased indeed. These were exactly what we were looking for and hoping for. They turned out so good. The different locations, the colors, the different backgrounds and textures were all amazing. You really have an eye for the backdrops too. They all worked so well. The colors all popped, and we are also in focus too, LOL. We cannot believe they turned out so well on such a cold and gloomy day. Thank you again for doing this and staying so positive and enthusiastic and passionate in such miserable weather. Your personality really made it easy for us and helped to energize us. And judging by the excellent quality of your photos, and the superb creativity, style and composition of your photos, we know we definitely made the right choice of wedding photographer and look forward to the wedding knowing that our photos are one less thing we have to worry about because you have that totally under control. Thank you also for the super quick turn-around for the engagement photos. That must have taken you a long time. We really appreciate it and were so motivated by how well they turned out. Courtney for one looked over them all several times. Again, we send you much thanks and congratulations on your wonderful photos.
