Shooting an elopement or small Orange County wedding event is a wedding photojournalist’s dream: a fairly open schedule with lots of breathing space for creativity – it’s just the photographer, the couple, the officiant, and perhaps a few select companions.

California - Southern WPJA members are ready to document any DIY - do it yourself, fast, town hall, or elopement wedding, even if it is a Monday-Thursday ceremony. Search for the “Can Shoot Weddings on Short Notice!” message on the listings below.

We are anxious to create a picture story chronicling your symbolic, unique, casual, small wedding from beginning to end. In this sense, it is no different from any other event that we have covered. The emphasis is on documenting key moments, capturing spontaneous displays of emotion, telling your real love story, as well as creating artistic portraits and details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are the best Orange County wedding photographers for small elopements?
A: The WPJA is proud to have some of the top Orange County documentary wedding photographers for elopements. Our members are able to submit WedElope Stories that take you step-by-step, via a 9 image picture story, through the unique and moving elopements that take place around the world.
Q: Where can I find a photographer for a short-notice, small Orange County wedding?
A: There are many WPJA photographers who are able to help you out at a moment's notice. We understand that sometimes love happens and there's simply no time to lose. We can ensure that you can get married as quickly as possible — and have incredible photographs to remember your Orange County wedding day by.
Q: How can couples find reviews of Orange County wedding photographers?
A: We call them Client Letters. At the WPJA, we decided more than 20 years ago to avoid incorporating those third-person testimonials and endorsements that are found all too often in advertisements. Instead, we elevated our listings with the use of Client Letters, which represent the actual words and feelings of the clients who booked those Orange County wedding photographers for their own wedding.

Oftentimes when people are considering a venue for their weddings, they search for a location away from home, whether that be ten minutes or ten hours, all just to find what they already have: a place that holds meaning for them, that feels comfortable, or that they find special and memorable. But what could hold more memory, meaning, and importance than your own home? For those looking for that perfect venue, it may not be any further than beyond your threshold.Read more
While some people live for the hustle and bustle of a big wedding with extravagant décor and an impossibly long guest list, others find these kinds of weddings to be too much hoopla, preferring instead something simpler and quieter, allowing for more intimacy between them and their fiancés on this special day. So how do you infuse your wedding with all the romance but none of the fuss? ALONE AT LAST Many couples these days are opting to elope rather than planning a large wedding. For the no-...Read more

Sorrento wedding image of the ceremony kiss in Italy

Katy & Steve

Darling Kate, Your warm personality and comforting smiley face put me at ease straight away. You oozed confidence and were very supportive in what results we were looking to achieve. Your totally chilled attitude relieved any anxieties that I had. As this was the only time I needed a photographer, I didn't know what to expect. I wondered what you would look out for on the day and how you would know to capture all those important, natural photos. For your own wedding, you want it to be perfect and for your photos to tell a story. You had planned sunset photos and surprised us with locations that you had researched that we had never thought of. You just knew exactly where to be to capture all those special moments. You made us feel completely relaxed and I hardly knew you were there. When the photos came though, we were completely blown away with the level of detail and how natural the photos were. You had even taken the time to capture photos of Italian life in the town of Sorrento which was a lovely surprise and added to our already wonderful memories. You are the most likeable, warm, funny and cool person I'll ever meet and you brighten up any room! The little tips you gave us on our wedding day for the best looks have stayed with me. The wedding photos told a beautiful story of the day from start to finish and this is something that will stay with us forever.

Kate, My now husband David and I talked to several wedding photographers before enthusiastically choosing you. We were immediately moved by your infectious love for weddings and wedding photography; no nonsense attitude to talking about all things wedding-related (there is no pretense about you whatsoever); and, your proven track record of absolutely gorgeous wedding photography that reflects a commitment to moving away from the staged stock photo-style of wedding photography reminiscent of a different era. Ultimately, however, you drew us in with your down to earth personality; we knew we’d be gaining a friend a teammate in this crazy process in addition to a photographer. And, let’s face it, from one fellow Brit to another, your British heritage did not hurt either! ;-) I was surprised by how much we needed you at the wedding. We had the privilege of working with you ahead of the wedding with some engagement photos (which I highly recommend), and we definitely got to know each other then. As a result, I was so happy to see you again at the wedding, and was reassured by the quality of the engagement photos that you’d do an excellent job again at the wedding. What I didn’t realize was how much my family and friends would also love you! And you captured photos that are just so magical…I don’t think we could have asked for more, and that was surprising!
