GENUINE, ENERGETIC, AND EMOTIONAL: Capturing the essence of weddings

I'm Amanda Squier, and I'm based in Colorado Springs, CO and Brooklyn, NY. I began learning photography when I was in high school, trying to shoot for my school's yearbook publication. This was still in the "dark ages" of film, but I feel lucky that my roots sprouted there. These early experiences and trying to shoot in a way that supported, or told in its entirety the rest of what was on the page, shaped my preference for capturing moments as they happened. I shoot no more than 25 weddings per year. This allows me to give my very best to each and every bride and groom I have the pleasure of serving. In addition to shooting weddings, I also shoot boudoir and portraits. I've been married for 8 years, and have two children and a dog. My daughter and my son complete my life in a way I never thought possible. While I don't know of any other artists in my family, there are definitely some very creative people who came before me, and I can see this creativity in my children daily. It warms my heart. Prior to photography, I was a high school social studies teacher for 7 years. Being around high schoolers is it's own kind of rush. My business started with seniors, and eventually grew into weddings and other events. Keeping control of 30 10th and 12th graders gave me great insight into crowd management, a skill I've found very useful at weddings... especially those with big, fun-loving wedding parties.
