Nottinghamshire wedding photography by Yvonne Lishman, of East Midlands England

I'm a Scot based in Nottinghamshire and I photograph weddings in the UK and internationally. Photographing weddings is freaking fabulous. Since 2006 I've shot tonnes of weddings and picked up a few accolades on the way. Back in the day I trained and worked in the NHS as a medical photographer but wedding photography's much more fun. There's a lot less blood for a start! I've been a primary school teacher and education officer for the RSPCA too. At school, I wanted to be a vet or an opera singer!!! I'm an animal-obsessed, nature-loving, child at heart, a vegan who believes kindness is everything and laughter truly is the best medicine. I have a loud laugh! I have two senses of humour - one silly and childish, the other dark and utterly warped. I believe in ghosts! I also believe that pugs, cats, The UK's Lake District, and Ryan Reynolds all prove the existence of a higher power at work in the universe. I once saw a duck sleeping at the side of a pond, it was dreaming; I’ve wondered ever since what it was dreaming about! You don't happen to know, do you? My couples are down to earth, they are in love with photography and allow me the freedom to photograph their day as it really happened. They often share my love of animals and of being connected to nature. And they love to laugh. Their weddings are all about the music, the food, and the people. They want photos of happy love and of people having a really awesome time. Nothing staged. Just authentic in the moment photography that will always remind them of how incredible it was to get married. How bloody freaking totally epic it felt to be there. And of how much fun everyone had in one day. My couples love life but they don't take it or themselves too seriously. Like me, they are here to live it to the full. Is this you? Because I can't wait to meet you. [Nottinghamshire Wedding Photographer]

Portrait of Nottinghamshire wedding photographer Martin Makowski, of United Kingdom England East Midlands

I have been shooting weddings for 6 years and I cannot imagine doing anything different now. Photography has always been my passion. I first picked up the camera when I was seven. It was my father's old Russian Zenith SLR camera. Since then photography fascinated me and I always wondered how all these great photos have been taken. The light, composition, technique and finally people in pictures. I did not want to just look at photos I wanted to take them. It all seriously started in 2006 when I got myself first digital SLR camera. I started photographing some great British landscapes and displayed my work in local galleries. I then moved into photographing people and finally documenting their big days. I love honest documentary way of photographing weddings with full respect to wedding photojournalism. No posing, staging, directing or interrupting the wedding flow. Just real moments within the wedding story. I live in Nottingham with my wife Gosia and our little boy David. Travelling to photograph weddings across the UK, I provide high quality service in a friendly and relaxed manner. [Nottinghamshire Wedding Photographer]

East Midlands and Lincolnshire wedding reportage photography by Nicholas Haigh of England, United Kingdom

Hi, I'm Nick originally from Liverpool but now based out of Lincoln where I live with my partner and two young daughters. Photography started as a hobby for me nearly 11 years ago photographing mostly landscapes, cityscapes & architecture. Whilst I was still serving in the Royal Marines I began the journey into weddings by second shooting and then when I had gained enough experience I decided to take the plunge and start my own Wedding Photography business. I love to shoot weddings in a totally candid, documentary-style not only capturing the emotion of the day but also the FUN and lots of it! Although I'm based in Lincolnshire I also shoot weddings throughout the UK. [Lincolnshire Wedding Photographer]

Pasquale Minniti, of Reggio Calabria, is a wedding photographer for palmi- reggio calabria
There are those couples who wouldn’t think of banning their favorite creature from their wedding, whether it is a dog, a cat, or a parakeet. Then there are the vast majority of animal lovers whose anxiety over their pets’ unpredictable behavior keeps them from extending an invitation to them. There are also those who waffle back and forth on the matter. They would love...Read more
Wedding photography detail of bride and bridesmaids Preparing for the ceremony outside in the wind with their bouquets.
With the snap of a shutter, a camera lens captures a single moment in time; one that can never occur again in the exact same way. At any given wedding, there are an infinite number of these moments that pass us by. Some hold in place longer than others; some come and go in the blink of an eye. It is through such fleeting details that some wedding photojournalists earn their keep. With a professional eye honed through years of visual training and practice, they constantly scan the wedding scene...Read more

Sideline story photography at the wedding reception showing ladies drinking gin from tea cups
Some wedding photographers may feel the need to include the bride or groom in every picture, but those photos convey only part of the day's record. Most WPJA members will probably tell you that you're not fully documenting the event unless you get out there on the periphery and record the subplots of the wedding day—the unique and intersecting stories of the guests as they enjoy the festivities. We call these types of pictures “sideline shots,” and they are distinct from the standard reaction...Read more
Creative Portraits and wedding photography | Bride & groom portrait walking in front of colorful wall outside
Portraits are part of every wedding, of course, but some photos have the ability to sear themselves into the memory, providing an unforgettable image that rises above the common convention. Wedding photojournalists shooting portraits work within an expanded set of parameters, just like their counterparts in the news world: Some direction and setup is acceptable in order to fully capture subjects in the context of who they are and what they are feeling. Yet everyone approaches wedding portraits...Read more
