I have long had a passion for photography – sparked probably by my Dad’s old Bronica and darkroom antics back in the 70s and 80s. To my young, impressionable self, there was always something magical about the process of image creation. I’ve had a camera in my hands ever since. However, after studying law at university, it was actually the music industry that first paid the bills. Just as rave culture hit the mainstream in the UK in the late nineties, I was fortunate enough to find myself working with super-talented DJs and producers, artists, entrepreneurs, and all-round inspirational creative types. Fun times - what I can remember of them!
I’m a family man these days. My beautiful partner and I live in Manchester and have two incredible daughters – growing up fast. So, taking my responsibilities seriously, I took a step away from the lunacy of dance music to become a primary school teacher for about ten years. I figured that there must be opportunities for creativity in education. And so there was sort of. But the allure of a truly creative purpose in life was just too much to resist. With huge thanks to the support and encouragement of my amazing family, I was able to pick up my cameras with a whole new ambition about 3 years ago. I am incredibly thrilled to be able to say that I now take pictures for a living! Except it’s more than just that, right!? It’s capturing emotions, documenting moments, portraying beauty, finding romance in the prosaic. Surprise. Delight. And so much more. I’m currently shooting around 25 weddings a year which gives me a happy work-life balance, and time to spend enjoying some precious moments of my own with the ones I love. If you’d like to talk to me about capturing some precious moments of your big day, I’d love to hear from you.
