My name is Boni Bonev, I was born in Svilengrad (Bulgaria) in 1970 and I live in Sofia (Bulgaria) since 1985. I am married and have two children.
For the first time I touched the magic of photography when I was 7 years old, watching images appearing on a white sheet of photo paper in the darkroom of my uncle. Since then, photography has become my favorite pastime, and since 1991 with some interruptions also became a source of income.
I love to paint with light, no matter if someone will pay me for it or not. Precisely for this reason, I always try to accept orders that will meet my personal preferences and understanding of photography. I like the reportage photography and the way of its making - with many unique moments caught without manipulation. I love working with natural light where possible, although I have a studio downtown in Sofia.
As a founding member and administrator of the largest Bulgarian site on photography Photo Forum , I have arranged with my colleagues over 30 photographic competitions and exhibitions. Personally, I participated in many group exhibitions, and I have my own as well. They can be found in my personal site.
Since I am master of science in electronics, I've always been interested in photographic equipment. I have written over 200 pages, photographic articles in print media, some of them technical. I am also the author of dozens of online tests in the Photo Forum of photographic cameras and lenses. I am coauthor of the first Bulgarian online photography tutorial "How to make better pictures with a digital camera", and the photographic book " In Focus ".
Since 2005 me and my colleagues guided photographic courses in Sofia .
With wedding and other commercial photography I work more intensively for several years. As you can see in my portfolio, I like clean, not manipulated photography with captured many moments, portraits and details. I love black and white photography, because it shows better real graphic pattern of light. Freed from unnecessary colors, photography remains just as volume, shape, light and storyline. I love metaphoric stories where one has to think, not just to perceive directly what he saw.
I use camera with high resolution 24,5 mp and fast lenses , which re-create in better way the natural ambience of the place and minimize the introduction of artificial light.

Freezing the pigeon in flight AND still getting the bride and groom framed behind? Amazing.
This is beautiful. The focus is tack sharp as the bird furiously flees the scene. The color of the brideʼs bouquet is a fortunate second layer as the yellow orange flower compositionally gathers with the birdʼs striking eyes. Kudos to the photographer for capturing this hard-to-capture, fleeting moment.
Nice image with strong emotion.
Perfection in taking advantage of the light. This images has an elegant composition, includes a quiet intimate moment, and is well composed and full of emotion. Excellent!
The moment within the strong composition made this image stand out. The graphic quality was nice “seeing” by the photographer, but to frame a touching moment in the window as well made this a top choice.
Smile. Nicely seen and composed. Great lines.
The photographer captured the moment perfectly, the kiss framed by the confetti and the added bonus of a bridesmaid on the right getting caught in the confetti.
I love how the girl's face shows up on the tablet like a magnifying glass effect.
Funny and refreshing are the first words that come to mind while looking at this lovely image of a child passing time with an iPad. It’s a wacky insight into a bright future where children will scarcely remember a time when an app couldn’t tear them away from the droll reality of all things adult.
Loved the bouquet popping out on the passenger window. Little things like the puddle the car is driven through to the headlights being on all contribute to this photo rising to the top.
Photographer uses a long lens to capture a sense of mood as a car splashes through a puddle. Nicely shot is the bouquet out the car window and a lovely smile on the bride's face, although the weather isn't looking too good. Black and white gives it a cinematic feel.
I have no idea what is going on here but this frame makes me want to know.
Trailing lights direct the eye to an enjoyable focus and express the mood.
Great moment, and great humor, don't want to mess with these guys.,
