There is an austerity to this scene as the newlyweds hold court in silence in a room that seems strangely austere. The musician, painted in some form of shimmering light, is the only other person seen but his distance from the couple adds a dissonance to his rhythm. There is more in this image felt, probably erroneously, that provides its sharp edge beneath a chandelier festooned with the twist of metal twigs. I love it.
This was a nice surprise, rarely do you see a wedding from this angle and it added to the drama of the moment. The perspective is usually as the bride and groom walk down the isle after the ceremony, but from behind gave it a different feeling. I got to look at this moment through different eyes.
Nice light, good use of color, depth of field, and the variety of amusing expressions are working for this image.
There was nothing special about the way the photographer shot this image, except that the reaction captured was awesome. A little crop off the top would have helped this image, but great portrait of a baby.
