Elopement Photographers for Small United Kingdom Weddings

Shooting an elopement or small Northern Ireland wedding event is a wedding photojournalist’s dream: a fairly open schedule with lots of breathing space for creativity – it’s just the photographer, the couple, the officiant, and perhaps a few select companions.

Members are ready to document any themed, civil ceremony, justice of the peace, or elopement wedding, even if it is a Monday-Thursday ceremony. Search for the “Can Shoot Weddings on Short Notice!” message on the listings below.

We are anxious to create a picture story chronicling your symbolic, unique, religious, small wedding from beginning to end. In this sense, it is no different from any other event that we have covered. The emphasis is on documenting key moments, capturing spontaneous displays of emotion, telling your real love story, as well as creating artistic portraits and details.

Northern Ireland and County Antrim wedding photography by Mark Barnes of the United Kingdom

I haven't known much else in life except photographing weddings for a living, I have had a camera glued to my hand since I was a kid and shot my first wedding when I was only 14 years old, fast forward the clock 16 years and over 700 weddings later and I am more passionate than ever about capturing epic moments from your wedding day as I continue my journey to being the best photographer, husband, and dad I can possibly be. Wedding photography has been my full-time profession and it’s incredibly rewarding delivering images to my clients that they will cherish forever. I love to work in the most creative way I can capture moments that display the beauty and evoke emotion. For me, wedding photography is such a personal thing and I love having the opportunity to build that rapport with my couples for them to feel relaxed on their wedding day. Which is why I like to meet my couples when possible and build up a relationship long before the big day. [County Antrim Wedding Photographer]

Belfast wedding photography by Jonathan Ryder, of County Antrim Northern Ireland

I've been a full-time photographer for over 5 years now. Photographing people being people is the best thing ever and I know I'll still be doing it long after I've photographed my last wedding. I'm married to my best friend, Róisín. Somehow she gets me and I'm lucky I have her. We live in Belfast with our two kids, Dáithí and Isla, in an old townhouse that's got bags of charm (and NO space). The kids are everything to us. On weekends off, we fuel-up with coffee and take them out adventuring. [Belfast Wedding Photographer]

Since then he has been finding his own decisive moments for his clients and looks forward to shooting every wedding he participates in. [Belfast Wedding Photographer]

Scotland and Edinburgh wedding photography by Zoe Brunner of the United Kingdom WPJA

Hi, I'm Zoë I've been taking photos for almost a decade. It took me until the end of my bachelor's degree to realise that photography was what I wanted to do full time. Although I studied philosophy and linguistics (University of Edinburgh), I nearly always found myself thinking about photography, not Immanuel Kant! Philosophy did teach me something though. It taught me about aesthetics, about beauty, and about ways of seeing the world. These sensibilities are what I bring to my photography. Outside of photographing weddings, I'm also a passionate rock climber, sourdough baker, and craftswoman. I was born and raised in Zürich, Switzerland, but you wouldn't know it from my accent. So your wedding is just around the corner and you’ve decided to elope , either because you want to do this on a budget , avoid a large wedding party, or simply to enjoy the day together with minimal distractions and as little stress as possible . They say 'all you need is love', but where exactly can you afford to trim the fat, so to speak? You want simplicity, but you also want to be properly married and, surely, to remember this occasion. Who, then, could be more important than...Read more
Traditionally speaking, often times it is the couple’s families who help pay for their wedding. However, unfortunately that’s just not possible for everyone, especially these days when the cost of weddings can quickly and easily get out of control. Some couples find themselves in the position of paying for all of their own wedding expenses, which can be quite the financial burden to take on, and about 40% of Millennials end up in this boat. So, how can you stick to your allotted...Read more
Not everyone has a lagoon or glacier next door, but there's no rule saying you can't have a small wedding in the great outdoors. Take advantage of natural sunshine and that open, airy feeling and give your guests some room to breathe! LESS IS MORE Instead of hemming your guests in on all sides, give them some elbow room, and legroom, too. There's no need to induce claustrophobia when you've got a wide, open space. Let your guests take in the view, especially if you've got a spectacular one. You...Read more
While some of us were fortunate enough to be born as extroverts, not everyone feels the same way. For a good chunk of the population, any number of the typical wedding day traditions can inspire anxiety and existential dread. This day is all about you, yes, but does that mean all the attention has to be on you as well? FROM VOWS TO CHITCHAT, WHICH REMAINS SACRED? Traditional weddings often require some degree of performance on the part of the couple, whether that is in the form of reciting...Read more
We all know that the economy can go through some hard times, and be somewhat reminiscent of past recessions. However, as people cut back on non-essential little luxuries here and there, one constant remains: weddings. People don’t tend to just stop getting married due to a poor economy, nor should they! So, in an industry that keeps on going through thick and thin, what are some things to expect for the future, and what is really necessary to still make that wedding day memorable and...Read more
It’s no secret that these are strange times we’re going through right now, and there are many couples out there with weddings set in the near future who are left feeling uncertain and concerned about their futures. While that’s understandable, it’s also important to remember the reason you’re getting married in the first place; not for the grand celebration, but because you love each other and want to be together. REMEMBER WHAT'S IMPORTANT You’re in this position now, about to get married, for...Read more

Majella & Noel

Dear Dylan I just wanted to drop you a note about our amazing wedding photos – I can’t stop looking at them and each time I do, I see something different in them! It was such a lovely surprise to get a first look at them when we were on honeymoon. I really think you captured the day so well and it has really eased the post-wedding/honeymoon blues. On a personal note, I wanted to thank you for the utterly pain-free way you took all the shots, so different to the usual posed pictures that leave everyone bored stiff with the whole process and with wooden expressions. I just love the natural smiles and happy expressions of all my family! With very best wishes Majella and Noel

Hi Dylan - We've spent every spare minute looking at our prints. The way you've captured the light, colour, movement and emotion in each of the pictures is just incredible. It's hard to explain but it's like each picture comes to life when you look at it. We're noticing things that we didn't see online and we are having so much fun reliving our day! Thanks again
