Kia ora, I'm Rainer. I'm a wedding photojournalist/documentary wedding photographer based just out of Wellington, New Zealand. After dabbling in photography for many years, I took the plunge and started photographing weddings professionally in 2016. I started out shooting weddings how I thought I 'had' to - directing couples where to stand throughout the day, constant formal posing and trying to create a story rather than capture it. I soon found that I wasn't fulfilling my creative calling working this way, and what was actually giving me and my clients joy was the candid moments I was capturing in between poses. I wondered if I could go through a wedding capturing only those moments, and after a bit of research discovered that what I was being drawn to had a name - 'documentary wedding photography' or 'wedding photojournalism'. I'm now about to hit a total of 100 weddings photographed, and am totally focused on capturing real moments. I also take pride in producing beautiful wedding portraits in a candid style that really captures who the couple is. I've always made travel a big part of my wedding photography, and shoot nearly half my weddings outside Wellington/Mānawatu where I'm based. I've enjoyed photographing a number of weddings around Australia.
