India and Maharashtra is where Ankita Asthana photographs weddings

I grew up in the midst of different cities and cultures, absorbing different environments and always curious about life and its ways. I picked up a camera in an endeavour to document things happening around me quite early on. Photography to me is my means of communicating with this universe, expressing what I cannot express with words, connecting with people's emotions and dreams. My style is to create something new, something different in the same setting. Finding that unique frame in the middle of chaos is what I am good at. I am a very passionate photographer and once a client has hired me, they know for sure that their memories are going to be captured in the most unique manner possible. Along with my husband Akash, I started WeddingNama and we are very proud of our baby. We give it our heart and soul and work towards making each and every moment beautifully memorable. Mumbai Wedding Photographer Anupa Shah, of Maharashtra, India

Happy, vibrant, emotional, family-oriented, fun, are some of the words my clients use to describe my work. I was always creatively inclined, but after an MBA from the USA and a few years in marketing, is when I stumbled upon my passion to freeze stories through my camera. Four + years later and there has been no looking back :) I want you to be able to look back at your wedding pictures and remember the exact emotions you felt on that day. So my pictures are as natural and candid as possible and try to capture your personality and the moment in the most organic manner. With attention to detail and storytelling, my focus always remains on capturing timeless memories in an authentic, elegant and unobtrusive way. Based in Mumbai, I am always excited to travel across India and worldwide to capture “moments of love”. [Mumbai Wedding Photographer]

Shaunte Dittmar, of California, is a wedding photographer for West Shore Cafe
Picture this: It's mid-summer, with temps in the low-80s, a cloudless sky, and oh-so-light gusts keeping everyone just cool enough. Maybe you're out on a bluff, overlooking the ocean, or in a fragrant, blooming garden. A scene is set for the ideal summer wedding. But—back in reality here—there's no way that six to eight months or more down the road any couple can forecast such pristine conditions for their wedding day. Despite their idealized image, summer weddings can...Read more
Cake cutting photograph with the bride and groom deciding if they should smash or not smash the cake.
No other tradition during the wedding day should rely as heavily on improvisation as the cake cutting. Those entrenched in the traditional camp may want to offer guidelines on where to stand, how to cut the cake and when to smile for the camera, but their promptings need not be followed for a thoroughly memorable experience. In fact, not following the “rules” is frequently what makes the cake cutting unforgettable. This time-honored ritual can turn into an entertaining affair with...Read more

Wedding Photographer captures quite moment as the bridesmaid looks timidly out before entering the scene
Weddings can be chaotic, noisy affairs where emotions are displayed publicly, so one of your biggest challenges that day can be capturing that quiet, intimate side. Trust, anticipation, skilled observation, savvy lens selection and a host of other judgments make it possible to bag those poignant moments in images that recall the day for those in attendance, and reveal a story for those who were not. It is all part of the unique value proposition that our members bring to wedding photojournalism.Read more
Sideline story photography at the wedding reception showing ladies drinking gin from tea cups
Some wedding photographers may feel the need to include the bride or groom in every picture, but those photos convey only part of the day's record. Most WPJA members will probably tell you that you're not fully documenting the event unless you get out there on the periphery and record the subplots of the wedding day—the unique and intersecting stories of the guests as they enjoy the festivities. We call these types of pictures “sideline shots,” and they are distinct from the standard reaction...Read more
Show Shutter Wedding Day Photography - Groom dancing at the wedding reception with some blur
Dragging the shutter is a basic photographic technique that is often put to highly creative use by the best wedding photojournalists. Whether depicting the bride mid-whir during a dance, or documenting a child bounding down the aisle at the church, dragging the shutter helps produce images that contain a sense of motion and bring an added dose of festivity to what, for some, already feels like a whirlwind day. When photographers “drag” the shutter by slowing down its speed, they...Read more
