In recent days, some of our United Kingdom photographers have expressed their desire to accommodate couples who don’t want to wait to be married and are rushing the ceremony.
Many brides and grooms around the globe are planning to elope and deciding to reschedule their original ideas for a big event because of current covid restrictions, social distancing, and mask requirements. They are getting wed on a whim, but dispensing with or postponing all else.
The WPJA has an abundance of top-ranked, documentary-style elopement photographers who are available right now who understand that some weddings can’t wait. Find yours today!

Hi, I'm Nick originally from Liverpool but now based out of Lincoln where I live with my partner and two young daughters. Photography started as a hobby for me nearly 11 years ago photographing mostly landscapes, cityscapes & architecture. Whilst I was still serving in the Royal Marines I began the journey into weddings by second shooting and then when I had gained enough experience I decided to take the plunge and start my own Wedding Photography business. I love to shoot weddings in a totally candid, documentary-style not only capturing the emotion of the day but also the FUN and lots of it! Although I'm based in Lincolnshire I also shoot weddings throughout the UK and Europe. [Lincolnshire Wedding Photographer]
Hi, I’m Aaron, a creative documentary wedding photographer from Northamptonshire. Often brave but always beautifully legitimate; I’m present and mindful of the fantastic moments of real joy and emotion that happen throughout a wedding. I don’t have any expectations of how your day will unfold, and I am continually working hard to capture the honest and fun that tells each wedding in all its unique glory. Being a photographer was a lifelong dream that I started chasing after buying my first SLR camera back in 2008, having trained as a graphic designer. I’ve never looked back! I know how big a decision it is to hire the right photographer, so here’s a little more about me so you can get to know me better. At the heart of my life is my lovely wife, Lindsay and our beautiful children; Imogen and Noah. I’m forever grateful to have such a warm, loving family, and they are my biggest inspiration. I play the guitar, and I’ve been told that I’m not too bad! I used to own a classic Mini Cooper in Tahiti blue. She was my favourite possession but had to go when I found out we were having our daughter. Today, I drive a sporty little Abarth 500. I’m obsessed with Stanley Kubrick movies, especially 2001: A Space Odyssey. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it! One day I’m going to live by the coast. Our favourite towns are Hunstanton (I proposed to Lindsay just down the road at Wells-next-the-Sea) and Southwold. I used to skateboard, and I occasionally can still be seen riding about. I’m a latecomer to Indian food, but I can’t eat enough of it now. We’re all beautifully different. Every living soul is unique, relevant, exciting and can do great things. But I think the thing that differentiates my photography from that of my peers is my outlook on how I observe, document and tell the story of a wedding day. When my couples trust and invest with me, in return, I spend time in them. I’m obsessively committed to documenting the unique story of a wedding in its full comprehensive glory. My style isn’t choreographed or repetitive, and I never have a script for how I expect the cards to fall, I just put up a camera, observe and capture tiny moments in time. My style was born and grown from personal experiences, so imitation is impossible, it’s me that makes me different. [Northamptonshire Wedding Photographer]
I have been taking photographs for most of my life. I have a passion for capturing what is happening around me, with no intervention or interruption, and I love a good wedding. I've been a full-time wedding photographer since 2006 and have been fortunate to attend many hundreds of weddings in every corner, and almost every county, of the UK. My work has been recognised repeatedly by the WPJA and other organisations, and I have one of the largest running totals of award-winning images in the UK. I like to immerse myself in your wedding, there from the preparations until the party is in full swing, and all I ask is that you and your guests forget about the photography and enjoy the day to the fullest. Your reward will be a thorough record of the events and emotions of the whole day. The REAL story of your wedding. Based in Derbyshire with my wife and two kids, I shoot weddings all over the UK and worldwide. [Derbyshire Wedding Photographer]
Hello I'm Jordanna a creative documentary wedding photographer based in Northamptonshire but merrily covering the whole of the UK, Europe and beyond. I take real pride in my work and I make no apologies for loving it so much. I am a happy, easy going character but sometimes the Italian in me rears its head so don’t be surprised if you catch me with tears in my eyes during the speeches or feeling choked up when I see you in your dress for the first time. Equally you might catch my foot tapping on the dance floor – I enjoy getting swept up by it all and I love capturing the energy in my photos. My approach to a wedding day is very much one of a documentary photographer. I, of course, shoot some family groups and a handful of portraits of the couple but I believe the majority of people connect with my work for my personality packed candids. My ideal clients are creative, fun loving, stylish and laid back. They say knickers to tradition for traditions sake and they definitely do not take themselves too seriously and they often say that, “although the photography is very important to us - we just want to have the most fun day ever.” Suits me! I thrive in seeking out fun and energy on a wedding day and my work is a lot about colour, characters, humour and Britishness. I have been shooting weddings full time for almost five years now and have shot close to 200 weddings. Although I’ve never been one to chase accolades – ultimately it is my couples’ feedback and happiness that fulfils me - I was extremely proud (and thankful) to be named one of the Rangefinder Rising Stars in 2017. It was a totally crazy feeling for me and my little business to be recognised on that sort of renowned, international photography platform...but of course very very nice too! Thought you might want to read a little about me outside of work to soooo...I live in a Victorian house on a nice leafy street with my husband and our son. There is nothing we like doing more together than exploring new places; booking random Airbnbs and getting away as often as we can. Besides from the mum/wife stuff I love chilling with my friends; painting; interior design and architecture; a good coffee table book; plotting projects on Pinterest; having a good, sweaty dance; having a laugh; bright lipsticks; instagramming; travelling; meeting new people and hearing their stories…which I guess is why I am so suited to my job. Being asked by couples to hang out with them and their families on their wedding days to take photos is just a dream come true. It’s also worth knowing that my business is run with an environmentally friendly policy at it’s heart. Most of my work is online; packaging is made from recycled materials and my gorgeous Fine Art albums are sourced locally. Obviously travel in my job is inevitable but I use public transport where possible and I run a modern, fuel efficient car. At home we recycle like mad; grow some of our own veggies; shop local and walk lots. If you like the sound of me and love my work then do get in touch – I would love to hear all about your plans and I’m sure if you go on to book me we’ll have a great time in the process. I was the WPJA's top placed "UK" Wedding Photographer in the 2009 competition and the first ever UK photographer to finish in the top three of the WPJA's International Photographer of the Year competition in that same year. My ethos is to document weddings by simply observing and anticipating moments as they happen throughout the day and to deliver an honest and emotive narrative. This approach enables my couples and their guests to get on and enjoy the wedding without worrying about the photography taking over. Based out of Loughborough, Leicestershire, I'm ideally placed to shoot weddings all over the UK. [Leicestershire Wedding Photographer]
I’m Hannah and I’m a creative wedding photographer who is totally in denial about being 30 something. I’m a mum to two girls, Effy and Lowen who I mostly refer to as Mary Mary and Quite Contrary. A funny old path brought me to Northamptonshire, after a brief spell teacher training in Reading, having previously read Music at university in London. I’m originally from Norfolk, and I really miss the seaside now that I live smack bang in the middle of the country… I think there’s nothing worse than boring wedding photography; my own wedding photographs fall into this category. I love exciting, creative wedding photography and I’m often found lying on the floor, hanging off banisters or hiding in undergrowth when shooting. I’m an awful dancer but I will dance at your wedding and take photographs at the same time. This is included in the cost and is mandatory I’m afraid. [Northamptonshire Wedding Photographer]
I have been shooting weddings for 6 years and I cannot imagine doing anything different now. Photography has always been my passion. I first picked up the camera when I was seven. It was my father's old Russian Zenith SLR camera. Since then photography fascinated me and I always wondered how all these great photos have been taken. The light, composition, technique and finally people in pictures. I did not want to just look at photos I wanted to take them. It all seriously started in 2006 when I got myself first digital SLR camera. I started photographing some great British landscapes and displayed my work in local galleries. I then moved into photographing people and finally documenting their big days. I love honest documentary way of photographing weddings with full respect to wedding photojournalism. No posing, staging, directing or interrupting the wedding flow. Just real moments within the wedding story. I live in Nottingham with my wife Gosia and our little boy David. Travelling to photograph weddings across the UK, I provide high quality service in a friendly and relaxed manner. [Nottinghamshire Wedding Photographer]
It all started just before my daughter was born (2015). I wanted to document family life in a way that was not disposable like the masses of selfies or general camera phone awfulness that spam-up social media feeds. I wanted to create photos that had more creative thought behind them, photos that I would actually pay money to print and put up around the house or send as gifts to my family. A couple of years later my sister-in-law invited me to shoot her wedding on a beach in Cornwall! Talk about a tough first gig- there’s no climb-down if I messed it up big time. But I was so thrilled to be asked because I’d been dreaming about shooting a wedding because in my mind it paired a truly joyous occasion with the need to have beautiful story-telling photography. I loved it! More importantly, they love the photos, and not long after I started my wedding photography business (2017). I live in Nottingham with my wife and 2 children. I shoot weddings throughout the East Midlands for fun-loving couples. I have a very relaxed style and while I work in a documentary manner for 95% of the day, I specialise in creating natural-looking couples portraits. [Nottinghamshire Wedding Photographer]

Hi, I’m Rhys, a tea guzzling, biscuit dunking, waterfall kayaking, wedding photographer. Who believes in capturing real wedding moments, without stopping or posing you. Ensuring you spend as much time as possible with your loved ones, capturing the raw emotion that you will treasure for a lifetime. Although I am based in Leicestershire, it’s an honour to be invited by couples to travel all over the UK to photograph their weddings. Adventure Junkie: In a previous life, I was an outdoor pursuit instructor. Instructing white water kayaking and climbing around the world, as well as delivering personal development courses to young children in the mountains of Snowdonia. In my spare time you will find me climbing some of the UK’s biggest mountains, or paddling off waterfalls, or maybe sampling a new restaurant that has opened with my fiancée Sarah. Yes, I too am getting married, and I understand how hard planning a wedding is. Choosing the right photographer is not easy, but having someone who isn’t going to stop or pose us, allowing us to enjoy every second of our day is essential to us. This is exactly why I have adopted this approach to my own wedding photography - I understand what it is like to feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. [Leicestershire Wedding Photographer]
Since 2008 I have been part of a professional photography team capturing over 300 wedding adventures in our hometown of Nottingham and the UK across several cultures including Afro-Caribbean, Chinese, English, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Nigerian and Sikh. My Approach At a wedding, we are the unobtrusive guests allowing the day to unfurl at its own beautiful pace where The Couple and their chosen loved ones can just ‘Be’. This approach lends itself to a documentary type of photography where we capture moments that resonate with atmosphere and meaning. [Nottinghamshire Wedding Photographer]
I live in the beautiful Norfolk Broads with my wife and two children. I have been photographing weddings since 2010. One of the best things in life is a good story and that's what my approach to photography is all about. I get a real buzz capturing those special moments, moments you might not remember or, perhaps, did not get to see. Even moments which, at the time, might have seemed insignificant will take on greater significance as the years roll by. Preferring to capture your day as it happens, I love working with couples who want to relax and enjoy their wedding day and not have to pose for photo after photo. I get my best images when you're just being yourselves - natural light and natural emotions! [Norfolk-UK Wedding Photographer]
My career as a photographer started whilst at college, studying an HND in Graphic Design back in 2010, I had gained previous experience of the photographic industry whilst exploring a very short stint in front of the camera, which I enjoyed. However, the urge to create the art myself became irresistible and I just knew I had to try it out. I picked up my first camera a Nikon D40 and this is where my dream of being a photographer began. I started photographing more for my college projects and local models to practice and perfect my work. At this point, I knew I had to start learning more about the technical side of photography, so I pushed my ideas in college and watched countless Youtube videos whilst gaining industry contacts within Norfolk and beyond. Soon I felt comfortable enough to begin photographing small events and doing commissions for local businesses. I then began to think about something I thought I would never have the chance of doing, University! Applying for University was probably the most nerve-racking time of my life closely followed by the interview! I just knew this was my path and I had to everything in my power that to make it happen, thankfully I left the interview that day completely gobsmacked with an unconditional offer to study a BA (HONS) Degree in Photography at Norwich University of the Arts. After finishing my Photography Degree at Norwich University of the Arts, I completed my first full wedding season as a ‘main shooter’ and have been in love with weddings ever since! Photography has been my life and passion for the last 10 years, and I wouldn't change it for anything. I also work in both the commercial photographic world and the wedding industry; as well as part-time for Nikon. This means I am fully immersed in the world of photography! [Norfolk-UK Wedding Photographer]
Hi, I'm Patrick, I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Yorkshire, England. I work with my wife Hollie Mateer. Our studio is called M and G Wedding Photography and we work alongside another photographer, Matt Godman. My dad, when he was working, was an Art and Animation lecturer, art and design teacher, and freelance artist. He always had a camera with him - a Nikon F2 was his main camera, . He was a very trusting father as he let me use it from an early age. So I started taking photos from a very early age. I studied art at school and was lucky to have access to their darkroom. From school, I went to art college and then University. Though I studied fine art, I always specialised in photography. At university, I worked in many different ways, shooting landscapes, street photography, portraits. I was influenced by Adams, Eggleston, McCullin, Meyorvitz, Friedlander, Frank, Arbus, Wall. At university, I met my close friend Matt Godman. After graduation, we both started shooting weddings independently. After some years, we decided to pool our talents and experience. M and G Wedding Photography was born. In 2015 I met my wife Hollie Mateer. She joined M and G Wedding Photography in 2017. Hollie is my wife, my best friend, the best photographer I know - and the most wonderful mother. We love working together, in particular, shooting together. She continually pushes me to be a better photographer, just through her sheer talent. I still shoot images on film today - particularly on holiday or days out. Rather than taking a digital camera or using my phone, I use my Nikon F100 film camera. This restricts me to 36 images, meaning I really take time when documenting - and enjoying - moments as they happen. I became a wedding photographer because I love photography. I used to shoot more commercial work, but over time, I came to realise my real passion was wedding photography. Every wedding assignment is shot in my own style - every frame is my own. In commercial photography, though I loved the challenge of working to brief, I always felt restricted. Wedding photography allows me to express myself through image-making in the way I want to. I never seek to repeat past work and I don't work to a brief. My clients just expect me to take natural, unposed images of their day in the style I am known for. [East Yorkshire Wedding Photographer]
Hey, I’m Cris Lowis, a Documentary Wedding Photographer based in Staffordshire. I've been a wedding photographer since 2011 and over the years I've naturally found my style and passion within photography which is a love for real moments. Sure, I still do the posed shots if needed but by focusing on the story I give my clients an authentic representation of their wedding day. I'm a family man and spend my days off with my wife and two kids. We also have a dog, two cats and three chickens..yep, its a mad house. If you're looking for a photographer please do check out my website, I'd love to hear from you. [Staffordshire Wedding Photographer]

Hi Aaron. We just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you for Saturday. We loved sharing our day with you, your passion for your job, and just your sense of fun and excitement for our wedding. We feel truly blessed to have met you mate! Charlotte & Neil
Hi Ian, What a day!! Can't believe it has been and gone, it seems like only a blink of an eye that it was the day before the wedding... Thank you so, so much for your time and hard work on Friday making sure you captured everything and that things went smoothly...your head must hurt by the end of the day from watching and anticipating moments; you're so clever how you ensure you capture everything. I was trying not to watch you but it was fascinating to see!! Aside from taking photos, it was lovely to spend the day with you! You're so lovely and such good fun, one of my all time favourite moments was Mark's catalogue pose in the garden!! Oh and laughing when you got the licking the suit moment! Thanks for making us feel so comfortable and at ease. I really had a great morning with the team, it really makes all the difference and sets the tone for the rest of the day. Thanks for all the little things which really helped: putting my mind at ease with my silly hair worries, constantly telling me the time when I felt nervous when it was getting to crunch time, chatting to my mum, helping to fetch things, advice with questions (from all angles!) from the bridal party, oh and finding that all important hair grip on the floor - incredible! ...filling me in on how the lads were... you fitted in a treat, I hope we weren't too mad for you! Everyone thought you were great! Especially my Mum, bless her. So sorry I put the extra pressure on you re the Dad reaction photo, looking back I should have just gone with the flow but at the time thought it was so important to have that one downstairs. I hope you understand. It's weird looking back knowing your day was perfect those things really do fall into insignificance, agh!! It was such a special moment for me being able to walk up to him and see his face, something I'll remember and cherish forever. Thanks for putting up with me!!! Thanks so much for keeping everything running to schedule (I know it was tough at times) and for staying as late as you did. It was sad seeing you go because it hit home that it was very nearly over! I'm so pleased with how the day went though, it really was perfect, so thank you so, so much for everything you did for us on Friday which extends beyond your incredible photography. So, as everyone always says, we can't wait to see the photos! (Take your time, no pressure!) We hope you enjoyed our wedding day too... Thanks so much for everything, Jen and Mark
Jordanna, these are amazing!!! Such a stunning set of photos!! Wow, you’ve really managed to capture the whole day here! So many beautiful moments, some of which we’d even forgotten about. Thanks you so much!! We really appreciate you putting so much effort into our day, and bringing Ally with you as well. And we massively appreciate the amount of effort you’ve put into getting these all ready for us! We couldn’t be happier with how they’ve come out :) We also love how you’ve captured all the decorations and details in the venue! So nice to have some great shots of these. Thanks again for all this, it’s massively appreciated! Looking forward to sharing the photos with our families. Lots of love, O & C xx
Dear Aaron, We wanted to write to you to say a huge thank you for being part of our wedding day. We know we haven't seen the photos yet but you were so great that we didn't want to wait to thank you. You made sure we both really enjoyed the day and all our guests commented on how discreet and considerate you were. We both knew from our first FaceTime with you that we were so lucky to have you as our photographer and we really enjoyed sharing our day with you. Thank you for making our day so fun and memorable. With love from Rachael & Nick xx
Aaron, we cannot thank you enough! Firstly for the remarkable photos you produced of our wedding day. You knew exactly what we wanted and were fearless! You respected Josh's Grandad's wishes by being discreet and we still have some amazing photos inside the church. Your guidance throughout the day was greatly appreciated and we felt so comfortable with you. Your creativity shows in the portrait sessions during the day and also the rain didn't bother you which definitely helped to keep us relaxed. When you sent the link it brought tears to my eyes as we relived the day with the perfectly chosen music. It was great to see how our guests experienced the day. Finally we wanted to thank you for the beautiful presentation box you sent, with the extras treats inside (I was so happy to have the rest of the table names back!) Good luck for the future and your next adventure. With love, Emma & Josh x
Dear Aaron, We just wanted to say a big thank you for all your hard work and amazing photography skills at both our events. You took on the job with such patience and professionalism, accommodating our many requirements. We are so happy with the results and hope we can meet up in the new year, review the pictures and eat some good food. From Saijal & Mike
Hi Jordanna!! I'm so sorry for such a delay and I hope you're well! It's been a bit crazy (I bet all of your brides say that!!) - we had an amazing honeymoon in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, arrived home on the Monday - and then had an epic Indian wedding that weekend! Yesterday was our first day actually at home since before the wedding!! The photos are beautiful!! We are busy sharing them with family and friends and those who have seen them so far love them! There are so many moments I obviously missed because I was either upstairs or elsewhere - I now have a full picture of the day! I still can't believe what amazing weather we had - and that was the last thing on my mind! The wedding we went to last weekend was.....very different to ours! I emailed Mark last week and told him how they had 4 (!) photographers, dressed all in black with branded t-shirts and 2 videographer guys! They just got in the way! Thank you for being pretty much invisible! We are going to look into buying an album over the next few days and are going to order some prints via the gallery. Thanks so much! x Hayley
