Paulo Castro began his photographic journey in 2003. It all began as a hobby.
In "the National Park of Peneda-Gerês," where his first pictures were taken, he learnt to watch the light and understand the photographic technique. He devoted himself to photography of nature and portrait, having stood out in “specialist” magazines and on online sites.
Later, between 2005 and 2010, other work was done in other several areas, especially in extreme sports and reporting in nightclubs.
In 2010, he conducts his own project, to a momentous register and of memory and also begins to dream of the possibility of becoming a full time photographer.
In October 2013, his daughter is born, Ines de Castro, a ray of light is back in his life and shines his path again, and this is when, his whole life changes.
In 2014, he states himself as a professional photographer and the dream becomes real!
“I capture each moment naturally and through it, the real story of your wedding is told. The photos are there to be recalled later. I photograph with passion"
Award Winning Photos
The Wedding Photojournalist Association proudly recognizes the accomplishments and creative excellence of Paulo. The following awards have been earned by Paulo from the WPJA. These achievements come with great merit considering the high level of competition that a member faces in the contests.
The whole image points toward this center-weighted focal point of bride and father, while the supporting elements of wedding guests cut diagonally across black space, as if they are all floating in their joy.
Great expressions on these bored boys in the back of the church. What I like is that you can still see the bride and a sense of place inside the church so it’s not a one-dimensional photograph. The foreground and background work well together.
Just a precious moment and extremely well-composed; taking advantage of the light and the comforting hand was a nice touch.
