Originally from Belarus – a small country between Poland and Russia – it was in 2006, and inspired by my own wedding, that I attended the Minsk School of Photography. Following two years intense study and two more years shadowing a renowned wedding photographer, I launched as a full-time professional wedding photographer in 2011. Since then I’ve notched-up extensive experience as a destination wedding photographer, shooting over 250 destination weddings in far away locations such as Italy, Switzerland, Motenegro, Thailand, Hungary, Czech Republic and Russia. We moved to the US in 2016. Located on Cape Cod, one of our favorite pastimes is exploring New England’s vivid landscape and sleepy coastal towns. As well as being ready to hop on a plane to shoot international weddings at a moment’s notice, I now cover engagements and weddings throughout Cape Cod, Boston and NYC, all New England and the surrounding area. I may be a little bit geeky, and my wife describes me as an "infuriatingly positive person". I am smitten with rock climbing, science fiction, surfing, travel, and being invited into the inner circle of a family on a wedding day. I am one of the only wedding photographers in the world shooting entirely on the highest end camera system and lenses in the world, the Leica. I am a hopeless romantic and thrive on the intricacies of a wedding day. My own wedding was the most overwhelming (fun!) experience of my life, and I treat every celebration with that gravity. I will tell the story of your day with sensitivity, artfulness, and attention to every detail. I work in a photojournalistic, candid and unobtrusive style throughout the day (apart of when we are making portraits or family formals). [Boston Wedding Photographer]
Knowing that a split second of time I capture with my camera can turn into an image cherished by generations. This is what excites me about being a wedding photographer and motivates me to continuously hone my skills and my vision. I love stunning natural light and pure, raw emotion. I love simple, clean compositions and bright, intense colors. I love shooting the big moments of the wedding day and the seemingly quieter ones – to me they are equally important and it is often when I look beyond the obvious that I am able to create the best pictures. I take an unobtrusive approach to my photography, allowing everything in front of my lens to happen naturally and my goal is to create images that tell the beautiful and unique story of your special event. I live in Somerville, Massachusetts with my wife, 5-year old daughter and 2-year old son, am an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), and have had my work featured in The Knot Boston and Gala Weddings. Photographer, sailor, ocean lover, pug person, Game of Thrones addict, enjoyer of raw oysters, New England patriots fan, drinker of iced coffee year round, ramblin’ wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer. Born and raised in the coastal New England town of Duxbury, Massachusetts, I photograph weddings in the Boston area as well as Palm Beach, Florida. [Boston Wedding Photographer]
I grew up in Eastern Europe — technically Moldova. I have always had a natural eye for photography. In my youth, I often looked out at the landscape and thought of ways to capture its uniqueness and beauty. Eight years ago, I began taking wedding photos as an assistant, and studied under my mentor, a well-known photographer and cinematographer. I learned to take my natural eye and transform that into a journalistic style of photography. Over the last four years, my focus has been on being the best Boston wedding photography. I have documented over 100 weddings throughout region and have photographed weddings at churches, parks, and people’s backyard. I enjoy the variety of my work and feel it challenges me. Other works include documenting the Lilith Fair concert series for Rolling Stone, consigned video works for Sony and Maverick and her book, “A Wished-for Song, Portrait of Jeff Buckley”, which includes 360 photos and interviews conducted by Merri. Merri has recently completed another book, “25 Years of Grace”, now available for preorder on Amazon. She created the photos, graphic design, and interviews. In the past 10 years Merri has had one-person photo exhibits with galleries in London, Sydney, Milan and New York City featuring her photography of musicians. She is represented by Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York. She has also worked as an in house photographer for Apple events in NYC since 2010 as well as taught photography courses at International Center of Photography over the last 10 years. She continues her work photographing artists and feels that her focus in documenting weddings is an extension of her editorial work - looking to authentically document the moments as they happen and be as unobtrusive as possible. The foundation of all my work is photographic and studio art experience which serves as influence and guide for all my creative exploration. I work in a variety of photographic styles, combining photojournalistic coverage with editorial portraiture. I earned a Masters in Art Education from Massachusetts College of Art, and hold a Bachelors degree in Photography and Media Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. The studio name, Ars Magna [Latin for 'great art'], is my tribute to six years at Boston Latin School, where I translated many classics and gained a life long love of learning. As part of a vibrant arts neighborhood in the city, I love collaborating with other makers and participating in community arts events like Open Studios. [Boston Wedding Photographer]
Hello, my name's Niki! I studied photography and art education at Montserrat College of art, and have been working professionally as a fine art, event, product, and portrait photographer since 2010. My experience as a staff photographer at MIT has informed my photojournalistic approach to event and wedding photography and continues to challenge me creatively with exciting new projects and adventures every day. Outside of my professional life, time spent exploring the coastal beauty of the North Shore has allowed me to stay connected with why I started photographing everything in my world in the first place: a deep love of story, found within the fleeting light and gorgeous color of the natural world. I believe that the most compelling moments are often found outside of the wedding day timeline and choreography. While it’s important to capture the big moments, to me, it's the little looks, the big hugs, and the spontaneous goofiness that really tell the story. I work in a style that's organic, unobtrusive, and artistic, and aim to capture every sweet detail, big and small. I live in beautiful Beverly, MA, with my husband Bryan, and our two fluffy and very spoiled cats. [Boston Wedding Photographer]
As long as I can remember, I've been using cameras creatively. When I was in elementary school, my brother and I used the home video camera to make sketch videos, and as I grew older, the improvements in the video recording and playback world fascinated me. When I was 14 I took my first photography class. I went to an NHL game with 2 rolls of black and white film, and a Minolta my mom bought in 1976 and developing that film I fell in love with capturing a moment, a real moment. I transitioned into the video program and later enrolled in a trade school for video production and broadcast television. I went to film school at the University of Colorado, and after realizing I no longer dreamed of working on a major motion picture, I moved to Boston with a friend and moved on creatively. Years later, my wife encouraged me to pursue my passion one more time. Together, we built a company on family and event photography before jumping into weddings. We booked 25 weddings in our first year, and have fallen in love with engagement and wedding photography. I shoot as though I'm filming a scene. My "poses" are cinematic, shot in motion, candid, and as though the couple is walking through a scene. When I shoot a wedding, I prefer to blend into the sea of guests and take moody, candid photos when people have forgotten I am there. I developed most of my habits through cinematography, but I have been inspired and found new motivations in the entire wedding process, from Engagement shoot through the delivery of a final wedding gallery. We shoot anywhere from 25-35 weddings per year and enjoy doing engagement shoots for our wedding clients as well as clients not ready to book yet, but with a need for beautiful couples photos. Hello, I'm Katie! I was born and raised on the island of Nantucket, and for as long as I can remember I've been immersed in and inspired by the natural beauty of my home. I always had a camera in my hand when I was younger, chasing sunsets at the beach, out on my Dad's fishing boat and documenting my adventures with my friends in scrapbooks too numerous to count. I've had a passion for storytelling from an early age. A few years after college, I moved to Boston and enrolled in the New England School of Photography for their two-year professional program and studied photojournalism, wedding and portrait photography. After graduating I started my business on Nantucket. My goal and passion is to document the moments and experiences you’ll cherish forever. I am committed to capturing the human experience from the smallest elopement to the biggest wedding celebration, from everyday life to the family vacation celebrating 60 years of marriage for the grandparents. I also spend lots of time photographing stories and doing work for organizations that are near and dear to my heart; our local animal shelter and a recent project with an equine therapy center. I believe the best part of my job is that each wedding, project, portrait session or engagement is a new artistic endeavor with a story to be told. I live on Nantucket Island with my husband Evan and our rescue pup Ziggy and while I do a lot of work here, I am also happy to travel just about anywhere! I would love to hear more about your upcoming wedding, event or story that needs to be told. [Nantucket Wedding Photographer]
Here is my approach simmered down to a concentrate: "My entire goal in my wedding photography practice is to make photographs that transport viewers back to the day. I create images that can be stepped into, entered physically. Through the utilization of movement, emotion, and light I accomplish this. The wedding day goes by very quickly. If the images are strong in this way, they can help the day to live on for all the years to come, for you, for your family, and for whoever couldn't be there, because they weren't born yet." TLDR: Over the years my friends have told me that their wedding day went by faster than you could possibly imagine. I heard them, but it wasn’t until my own wedding, that I fully understood what they meant. From the moment our beloved friends and family began arriving in this miraculous unending flow, I could already feel the specific indescribable joy slipping away. I wished I had a few dozen of myself to run around and take it all in, to reminisce about childhood with every cousin, to introduce my old friends to my wife’s old friends, to squeeze all the shoulders, to share all the laughter. Luckily we hired a fantastic photographer, so we will have beautiful prints and albums to supplement our memories for the rest of our lives. As a photographer, I am primarily a storyteller (I also write fiction.) Weddings are epic stories, usually squeezed into the space of a single day. As I photograph a wedding, I look for all the distinct stories that are unfolding, and I aspire to make images that will recall them. My work ethic is strong, and also, I just love making emotional, dynamic photographs, so I pretty much work nonstop from the moment I arrive at a wedding. For a single day your fiery grandma will break bread with your freshman year roommate. Your best friend from elementary school very well may fall in love with your partner’s cousin. These things matter, so I make it my job to document these moments. One of my goals is to make a meaningful photograph of every guest. There are photographers who set up the standard moments, and do little else. I tend to think the in-between moments are just as important (if not more so.) I try to be in all the places you didn’t have time to be, to observe all the people and events you didn’t have time to observe, and to document them for you. There are also photographers who chase the couple around all day long. As a result, there are guests who aren’t photographed even once. These wedding guests are the most important people in your life. Many of them will travel from great distances to show their love and commitment to you, and to the partnership you are entering into. When times get tough, it is these people who will support you in the long years of your marriage. So, yes, I tell stories about weddings, but not just any old story, I try to tell a gorgeous story that honors the vision you have for your union and its celebration. In order to tell a story that honors a your vision, I need to communicate very well. I ask questions and I listen closely, so that I can understand what matters most to you. In the end you will have your prints and your albums. Your photographs will remind you why you spent all those hours planning. They will remind you of all the help and warmth and support your family and friends brought to the occasion. They will remind you that an overwhelming number of people care about you, and it isn’t just that they care about you, they care about your love and your partnership.
