Kasia and Amr wanted a quick, rapid-fire wedding - both of them were flying into Toronto the same day. Madly in love, the couple decided to tie the knot at the iconic Sassafraz Restaurant wedding venue located in the high profile Yorkville area of old downtown Toronto. Opened almost 20 years back, Sassafraz has earned a name to be a celeb hangout - famous guests including Mick Jagger, Bono, and Sylvester Stallone.
Kasia contacted me on the morning of the day of their marriage - they had loved my previous body of work. Luckily, I was available and in another 3 hours from the time we spoke, we met at the venue... me, ready with my gear for action. I cannot even remember how the next couple of hours flew by - it was short, crisp, and beautiful. Only a very close group of family and friends were present and both Kasia and Amr looked stunning. They were so much in love that I did not even feel the need to brief them about the shoot - I just let them be. They were by far one of the easiest wedding subjects to capture - absolutely non-conscious of the camera. They left for their honeymoon the same evening.
A week later, I woke up to a message from Kasia saying how much they loved the pictures - "you just worked your magic to give us these beautiful memories". Thinking of that day still brings a smile to my face.
