Bride and groom celebrate their Hindu union amidst the blooms during portrait session

Love blooms as the newlyweds embrace under a flowering tree, captured in a portrait after their intimate Hindu ceremony at the Botanic Garden

The story of how Arti and Jay first met is straight out of a rom-com. They were on the same flight and had a meet-cute while in line for baggage. By chance later on, one of their seats got changed last minute and they ended up next to each other and talked nonstop throughout the flight. Jay then asked Arti to have a drink at the airport bar during their layover. The couple's final destinations were different, so they went their separate ways, but the two stayed in touch and after some time, their lives intersected enough that they decided to make their relationship official.

The couple had an intimate Hindu ceremony at the New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill with close family and hired me to capture candid moments. I started at their hotel to capture them getting ready for their ceremony and then photographed their first look in one of the greenhouses at the botanic garden. The ceremony beautifully incoporated their family members and religious traditions. We ended the afternoon with some portraits around the gardens with the blooming spring flowers as our backdrop.

The vows are exchanged at a New England garden - a journey of love, wealth, pleasure, and spiritual enlightenment in their Mangal Phera ceremony.

Arti and Jay circle the fire four times during the Mangal Phera. These circles represent four purposes of life: Dharma (spiritual way of living), Artha (wealth), Kama (pleasures), and Maksha (liberation). The bride leads the final circle, as it is believed that only the woman can lead the family to spiritual transcendence.
