Vieux Lyon, Rhône, France Wedding image of the couple going home, married, and that is the most important thing for them
Here they are, married, happy, even if it is only the two of them. They will have dinner alone, no guests, no cocktails, no first dance ... They are going home, married. And that is the most important thing for them.
After much upheaval, the bride and groom can finally get married. It will be a small wedding, with only 4 guests in the town hall. The bride's family will follow the ceremony with a video call from Russia. But that in no way affects their happiness to be able to get married.
The bride and groom arrive at the town hall first. They are alone in the beautiful wedding hall. The atmosphere is very different from regular weddings, but their love and joy at finally being able to come together is beautiful to see.
The guests arrive, all masked. Only the bride and groom have the "right" not to wear them. Despite the health situation, everyone is happy, people have become accustomed to wearing the mask, it is now part of our daily lives. As the bride is Russian, French law requires that a translator be present.
The bride and groom's families follow the ceremony by a video call from St Petersburg in Russia. It is impossible for them to obtain the authorization to travel, even for the marriage of their daughter.
The civil ceremony begins. The bride is radiant, as is the groom. They will finally be able to unite after long months of waiting.
The mayor reads the consent of the bride and groom. They hug each other, intertwine their fingers, in a deafening calm.
The exchange of alliances is also done in peace. Only 4 witnesses are present, and film every moment with their smartphones so that the families of the bride and groom can enjoy this moment as well. This, unfortunately, prevents them from applauding, from sharing the joy of the moment.
Vieux Lyon wedding photo from the Streets of the Bride and Groom after The exit of the town hall civil ceremony
The exit of the town hall is done in the most complete calm. No petals, bubbles, hedges of honor. It's a simple exit like walking out of a store. Despite everything, the bride wanders the streets with great joy.
On the way, we stop for a few moments on the Quai de Saône. The light is beautiful for a December day. It is impossible to rent a place during this period, so we took some pictures outside.
