Photograph 2191041 was awarded to South Carolina, United States wedding photographer Ben Chrisman for being the best in documentary wedding photography.
"This is a fun image with a compositional juxtaposition that must have practically begged the photographer to do something. It must have started with the paragliders who blissfully fly in the background. Their "interference" meant it was all downhill (or down dune) after that. Add to it the windblown shape of that distant palm tree, the sail inspired awnings shading the wedding party and everything seems destined for takeoff. Of course, little does it matter to our bride and groom who hopefully are already soaring together. "
The WPJA is pleased to present South Carolina, United States wedding photographer Ben Chrisman with an official Master Piece Award as recognition for exceptional wedding photojournalism at Mexico.
The very best reportage-style wedding photographers from around the globe submit their best images to the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s photography contests because they appreciate having the opportunity to be awarded in this field. Their images are scrutinized by some of the most notable and respected working photojournalists and picture editors in the news industry (not the wedding industry). Winning in these contests is a true accomplishment for a professional wedding photographer.
