Wedding photographer Ackapol Dhuamrearngrom, was awarded 1st place for photo 1993461 in the Other Vendors category for the WPJA's 2017 Tri1 Photography Competition.
- The people working at a wedding are supposed to be unknown, unseen, and blend into the background, and I think this image mimics that idea. The pasta in front of his face makes devoid of any personality, and he is only there to serve. This image reflects that.
- The alliteration of form…pans and spoon handles, the shape of the tongs lifting pasta from a colander, the highlight striking the top edge of the forearm, and even, what appears to be, vegetables and bread in the background. Adding to the scene are the circular patterns throughout. The down-the-middle composition works perfectly in this circumstance, and I love the mystery of the obscured face.
The WPJA contest judges presented Ackapol Dhuamrearngrom, a Thailand wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
