Wedding photographer Chris Shum, was awarded 8th place for photo 2007836 in the Mirrors (creative use of) category for the WPJA's 2017 Tri1 Photography Competition.
- This brought a smile to my face. I like the lower mirror so the young girl can see herself, but what makes it most special is the photographer got on the girl’s level to see what she could see. The smile on the woman’s face holding the mirror also reflects on the moment.
- There's seems to be a lot of serious things happening at once around the table in the background. In the meantime, up front and center it's all child's play as a young girl gets a first look at her wedding attire. It's a juxtaposition of two worlds that work in a delightful way.
The WPJA contest judges presented Chris Shum, a California, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
