Wedding photographer Stefano Serra, was awarded 1st place for photo 1954871 in the Toasting/Speeches category for the WPJA's 2016 Q4 Photography Competition.

The WPJA contest judges presented Stefano Serra, a Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.

The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

  • Sometimes taking a risk and backing up can really pay off- this picture is a nice sense of place photo as well as a nice moment.
  • The minimal lighting of this photo elevates it like glasses raised for a toast. The newlyweds hoist their glasses from their stage while the three chandeliers mimic the arc of their arms and make a toast with flame-shaped bulbs instead of crystal. Everything plays a role here as though the photo itself was yet another lifted glass. In fact, indeed it was.
