5th place in Symmetry

Wedding photographer Hongzi Chen, was awarded 5th place for photo 1930491 in the Symmetry category for the WPJA's 2016 Q4 Photography Competition.

The WPJA contest judges presented Hongzi Chen, a China wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.

The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

  • We have seen this moment many times before, but it is always enjoyable to view when done right … and this one is done right.
  • Such a beautiful image. It has stature. It has the feeling of something more. Itʼs a difficult photo to describe. The obvious elements of light, composition, lens choice and a moment are all there. But it almost seems to have less and thatʼs possibly how it stands alone as a fantastic image. It leaves us with a sense of satisfaction where seeing more would be less. And the symmetrical aspects of the image are practically invisible, yet they add greatly to the image.
