Wedding photographer Jacob Hannah, was awarded 1st place for photo 1950406 in the Bouquet/Garter (Action) category for the WPJA's 2016 Q4 Photography Competition.
- This is a more traditional photo, granted, but well-done. The timing was perfect, the expression is nice and the photographer used depth of field well. I thought the lighting was well executed. Just a classic bouquet photo.
- This photo smiles at you. Itʼs fun. Itʼs playful. Itʼs a lot of things all coming together around the brideʼs happy face. And some of the guys seem more eager to catch the toss than many of the women. All in all, it was a good use of a center-weighted composition.
The WPJA contest judges presented Jacob Hannah, a Vermont, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
