1st place in Kids (Being Kids)
The WPJA contest judges presented Cristiano Ostinelli, a Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- This sort of situation was fairly common in the category but I really like the boy framed up in the center with this head completely obscured. I also like seeing the textures and details of the room.
- I love this somewhat macabre photo of a young boy inside the bridal gown which apparently is hanging from a light fixture. It reminds me of my experience as a child running between clothing hanging from racks at the store (when I could get away with it.) I remember such play as somewhat mysterious, pressing my face against cool fabric as I forced my way from aisle to aisle like an animal moving through dense blades of tall grass. But here, in this moment of childhood solitude, amidst the trappings of elaborate decor, this childhood pleasure becomes a stranger, yet likable and friendly “beast” than my own memories as a lion stalking nothing as I passed through clothing in an imaginary journey of no reason or purpose than momentary pleasure.
Wedding photographer Cristiano Ostinelli, was awarded 1st place for photo 1867496 in the Kids (Being Kids) category for the WPJA's 2016 Q2 Photography Contest .
