4th place in Reflections
The WPJA contest judges presented David Murray, a Georgia, United States wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

Photographer's Comment
I found this to be something that I had not seen previously: a bridesmaid using the ceiling mirror in a limo for a touch up. It took several minutes bobbing and weaving on the road, to make sure that the light was right, the composition was best it could be, and for all the ladies to be a great support cast to this moment. Finding unique times like this are what make storytelling in weddings so rewarding.
Judges
- Applying lip polish in the mirrored ceiling of a limo is a convenient upgrade from a rearview mirror. Her solitary act of glamour is what we see first. But we quickly discover a juxtaposing second layer in the expressions of those who surround her in her mirrored moment of simple extravagance. As a viewer, it was the second layer that decidedly created a win for the photographer, and hopefully, she, a winning glossy smile.
