13th place in Details (Found)
The WPJA contest judges presented Samuele Ciaffoni, a Ancona, Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- In this image we see how the detail photo is not averse to a wide lens. This image works because our subject is reduced to two primary elements which are tied together via juxtaposition that create a single narrative. Although we cannot know from the photo what the relationship the portrait is to the bridal gown, one could assume that the portrait is the girl who will soon wear the dress. But, even if we err, the image still speaks a narrative of a young girl who, years later, will soon wear the gown as a bride. Of course, lovely lighting and composition are also key elements here.
