1st place in Flowers/Decorations
The WPJA contest judges presented Xing Lei, a Tianjin, China wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Beautiful pastel colors of flowers, bubbles and dress. Nice detail shot.
- The extremely narrow focus works exceptionally well to direct our attention to the bouquet. It also makes the bubbles more colorful and compliments the color of the dresses.
- What can one say about an image as delicately beautiful as this? Not much. But, the use of a long lens, good composition with the natural leading line of the arm to the primary subject, makes for a winning image with a shallow depth of field and that gorgeous smorgasbord of colors.
