Wedding photographer Simon Cassanas, was awarded 2nd place for photo 1490021 in the Details (Found) category for the WPJA's 2014 Q3 Photography Contest.
- Details can get cliché very quickly. I was very surprised by this find by the photographer. It is great seeing and took a bit of planning to execute. Nice shot!
- Here's an example of what we used to refer to in the photojournalism biz as a "good eye." It takes a creative eye and a probing photographer to find and make a juxtaposition like this. There's another saying used during my years as a photojournalist, that the highest compliment you could pay to a fellow photographer is to say, "I wish I had made that photo." Therefore I'm as green with envy as the juxtaposition seen here.
The WPJA contest judges presented Simon Cassanas, a France wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
