Wedding photographer Luigi Rota, was awarded 12th place for photo 1475511 in the Ceremony category for the WPJA's 2014 Q3 Photography Contest.
- I've seen a lot of images of people throwing, zinging, shooting, pitching and tossing everything from bird seed to the traditional rice but this one resonates in a particular way with me. First, consider the composition, elegantly imbalanced, which helps convey the frenetic feeling of the moment. Secondly, the bride's expression reveals her joy, in spite of the bucket load of "good wishes" and "good lucks" that she is receiving. It's a joyful moment expressively conveyed.
The WPJA contest judges presented Luigi Rota, a Lecco, Italy wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.
