The WPJA contest judges presented David Pullum, a Devon, United Kingdom wedding photographer, with this Master Piece Award as recognition for top wedding photojournalism in the industry.
The leading documentary wedding photographers in the world enter their best photos to the Wedding Photojournalist Association's photography competitions. They want their wedding reportage photographs to be evaluated and selected by some of the most notable and respected working picture editors and photojournalists in the news industry (these are not wedding photographers or other WPJA members judging their work). Winning these competitions is a true accomplishment for a wedding photographer.

- Nice seeing/capturing of dramatic light during what is usually an undramatic, even quiet moment. Stepping forward to lose the right 20% and the top 15% and the bottom 5% would really make this stronger and bring out the shoes which are an important subtext within the image.
- This is a strikingly delicious image caressed in those beautiful saturated colors that blend furtively into the darkness surrounding them. It's a wonderful image with excellent composition pulled together with incredible lighting. All the components of this image brings us directly to the focal point, accented by that bright flash of light behind the subject.
